A. Invitation
- Invitation adalah undangan/ajakan baik itu secara tertulis maupun pembicaraan langsung untuk
melakukan sesuatu atau pergi ke suatu tempat.
- An Invitation is a written or spoken request to someone, inviting them to go somewhere or do
something.
1. Expression to Invite
Ada banyak sekali pola yang bisa digunakan untuk invitation, diantaranya:
a. Would you like to + Verb 1
b. Would you + Verb 1
c. Would you mind + Verb-ing
Examples:
- Would you like to watch Joker with me?
- Would you go to school with me tomorrow?
- Would you mind coming over on Saturday night?
2. Expression to respond to an invitation
a. Accepting an invitation
Ketika kita hendak menerima suatu ajakan/undangan, kita bisa mengatakan:
- With pleasure
- Yes, It would be nice
- Thanks for your invitation
b. Refusing an invitation
Ketika kita hendak menolak suatu ajakan/undangan, kita bisa mengatakan:
- I’m sorry I cant
- Thanks, But I’m afraid I can’t
- I’d love to but I have to work
B. Giving Instruction
- Secara sederhana, Instruction berarti perintah/suruhan
- An instruction is an expression that is used to instruct, request, or giving command
- Instruction has language feature as follow: (Berikut beberapa aturan yang harus di ikuti untuk
membuat suatu perintah)
1. Using the exclamation mark in the end of the instruction. (Menggunakan tanda seru di akhir
perintah)
2. Using Simple Present Tense (Menggunakan Tensis Simple Present)
a. Using verb 1
Examples:
- Sit down!
- Sweep the floor!
- Clean the whiteboard!
b. Using ‘be’ + adjective
Examples:
- Be careful!
- Be quiet
- Be nice!
c. Using ‘Don’t’ + verb 1
- Don’t climb!
- Don’t do it!
- Don’t let them in!
3. To make instruction be politer, we can use ‘please’ in front of or at the end of the sentence
Example:
- Please, wake up!
- Be quiet, please!
C. Asking for Permission
Asking for permission digunakan ketika kita ingin meminta izin untuk melakukan sesuatu/pergi ke suatu tempat
1. Asking for permission (Meminta izin)
Examples:
- Can I go out, please?
- Can I drink your coffee, please?
- May I open the window, please?
- May I see your answer?
- Do you mind if I open the door?
- Is it okay if I leave?
2. Giving permission (Memberi izin)
Examples:
- Yes, Please.
- Sure, Go ahead
- No Problem.
- Of course you can
3. Refusing permission (Tidak memberi izin)
Examples:
- No, please don’t
- I’m sorry, but that is not possible
- I’m afraid you can’t
