Phillips will serve as Essayist for the Kansas Society of Dentistry for Children, Kansas City, August 6th; then will travel to Wellington, New Zealand (August 17th - September 3rd) as Essayist for the Third Biennial Conference of the New Zealand Dental AssociationNEWS FROM RILEY DENTAL CLINIC The Riley Hospital Dental Clinic July 10 picnic welcomed the new pedodontic interns, Dr. Roger Shurr, Dr. James Fleck and Dr. Wayne Dawes.
Dr. Fleck was the recipient of the Indiana State Society of Pedodontists senior award and Dr. Dawes received the American Society of Dentistry for Children senior pedodontic award.
Riley Dental Clinic also welcomes Dr. Robert Musselman as a member of the teaching staff in conjunction with his graduate studies.
Miss Pat Abel joined the Assisting staff in June. Pat is a graduate of the Wood High School Dental Assisting Program.

DEAN HINE CONVALESCING
Misfortune continues to follow Dean Hine on his travels abroad. On his return from Tel Aviv, Dean Hine was found to have a detached retina.
Those who know Dean Hine well can appreciate his concern over his limited activities during conval- escence. We wish him a speedy recovery.
DR. i1UMFORD TO MEXICO CITY Dr. George Mumford and family are on an extended trip; first stop will be Memphis, Tennessee, where Dr. Mumford will give a course at the Un:i.versity
of Tennessee. From there, they
proceed to Mexico City, where another course in "Bonded Porcelain Veneers"
will be given.
ORAL DIAGNOSIS-ORAL MEDICINE Dr. David F. Mitchell has moved into a new home at 4451 North Broadway.
Among the first visitors to the new home was Patrick Henry, a former Cro--.m and Bridge graduate from Perth, Australia.
Our sympathy is extended to Mrs.
Gladys Garlock on the loss of her Father.

PROSTHETIC DEPARTMENT NEWS
It has been announced that Dr. James E. House and Dr. L. Rush Bailey passed their board examinations for the
American Board of Prosthodontics in Chicago in Jtme.
Dr. Bailey is on two weeks active duty with the Air Force in the office of the Surgeon General in Washington, D.
c.
Dr. James House was in Washington, D. C. during the week of July 18th attending meetings pertaining to the Clark-Cleveland Company research program. He then visited the
Dentist's Supply Company in York, Pennsylvania prior to returning to Indianapolis.
ENGAGEMENT .ANNOUNCED
Our coneratulations to Dr. Jim Page, graduate pedodontic student, on his forthcoming marriage, August 10th, to Miss Judy Maguire of Valparaiso and a graduate of the Indiana University School of Nursing.
Following their marriage, they will reside in England.
RETURNS FROM BRASIL
Dr. Ralph E. McDonald recently
traveled to Sao Paulo, Brasil, where he presented a course at the
University of Sao Paulo and parti- cipated in the Third Brasilian Dental Congress. Dr. Dioracy Vieira~ former graduate student in Dental Materials and an Associate Professor at the University of Sao Paulo, sends his best wishes to his many friends at Indiana University.
Dr. and I~s. McDonald spent several days in Rio de Janeiro before re- turning on Jul~r 28th.

DR. HEALEY APPOINTED TO C.D.E.
COMMITTEE
Dr. Harry J. Healey has been appointed by the Council on Dental Education to a committee which will evaluate applications for approval of
Endodontic Graduate Education Pro- grams of the schools in the United States. Review of the pertinent evaluation manuals is planned for October 18-19, 1966 at the ADA Headquarters in Chicago~
DR. LARRY JONES HONORED
The Pedodontic Department recently honored Dr. Larry Jones, who has resigned his part-time teaching _ position to devote full time to his private practice, by presenting him with a table lighter in appreciation of his contribution in the field of teaching.
ORTHODONTIC DEPARTMENT NEWS Doctor Burstone and his staff have been busy this summer preparing and offering four short courses within a period of two months. The first of these was the Advanced Orthodontic Diagnosis and Treatment Planning course delivered to approximately

orthodontists on June 1-2. The annual Segmented Arch Course was held during the week of June 20, with an attendance of 20 practicingorthodontists. Dr. Burstone pre- sented, on July 11-12, a two-day course on Facial Development from Birth to Maturity, with approximately
30 men in attendance.
Dr. Burstone has been appointed a Member of the Dental Study Section of the Public Health Service for a 4-year term beginning July 1, 1966. Members of the Dental Study Section make re- commendations to the several National Advisory Councils and committees of the Public Health Service regarding grants and awards.
