The process of teaching English at junior high school focuses on the students' ability to communicate in daily lives, the students must understand the text and use it in real situation. In addition, the school-based curriculum (KTSP 2006) states that the purpose of English subject at the junior high school requires students to develop their communicative competence in English orally and in writing. According to Abisamra (2001), descriptive text is a text that depicts the person, place and thing with clear detail to help the readers to visualize an object being described.

According to Nordquist (2008), the purpose of a descriptive text is to let the readers see, feel and hear what the writers saw, felt and heard. It can therefore be concluded that the descriptive text is one of the text types that aim to communicatively describe people, places or things through the use of text organization and language features. By using this technique, teachers can lead the students to be more active in the learning process, especially in writing.

Students are expected to work in groups or individually to produce their ideas. By using the question and answer technique, the students will make them answer and interact with the teacher about what they are studying. Through this technique, the teacher will be able to know about the knowledge, understanding and skills of the students.

Burnaby (2005) says that question and answer is a technique interaction in the classroom that can be used by the students as an invitation about material they are studying at a different level. Furthermore, by asking questions, teachers can determine whether the students understand the lesson well or not, and can increase the students' learning level. Honeyfield in Felma (2007) says the pictures are visual material that can be used to motivate the students to learn language.

Using pictures, the students will write their composition based on the pictures that interest them. Furthermore, the teacher must provide the pictures that the students like, so that the students are interested in the pictures and motivated to read. Heaton (1985) explains that to develop the students' powers of observation, pictures can encourage clear and precise thinking, help the pupil to speak and write freely on a particular topic.

He also says that pictures are a great help in learning new vocabulary and structure, providing the students with the basic material for his composition, and enabling him to pay attention to correct language use. The selected photos are not only relevant to the interest and age of the students, but they must also be fun, really motivating and contain a lot of visual information.

At this point, the teacher should state what is expected of the students at the end of the lesson. The teacher stimulates the students' knowledge by giving some prepositional words before coming to a topic about describing the place. The teacher instructs the students to make some sentences using the given preposition.

Students should follow all instructions given by the teacher in the following activity. After giving some suggestions and asking some questions to the students, the teacher gives other instructions for the students to do. After the students collect some questions, the students answer all the questions and the teacher leads by reading the questions one by one.

From the students' answers, the teacher guides the students to combine and arrange the answers to make a good descriptive paragraph. After arranging the answers to be a good descriptive paragraph, the teacher asks the students to analyze the paragraph for tenses used, adjectives, social function, etc. If the students have understood what the teacher explained, they can do their writing.

To create their own writing, the teacher asks the students to work in groups. The teacher asks the students to make some questions using the clue in the picture individually and then asks them to write the questions on the question card. The teacher then collects the question card with questions formulated by the students.

After the students have created their own descriptive text in groups, the teacher now evaluates their completed tasks. The teacher asks the students to submit all their work, from making the question, answering the question and completing a paragraph. The teacher's assessment for the tasks can be done by analyzing the students' worksheets individually and in groups.

The teachers should choose a technique that can involve the students to write independently, especially to write descriptive text. Question and answer technique will help the students to organize and generate their ideas easily, especially in writing a descriptive text.
