Nilai rata-rata verba sebelum diberi perlakuan adalah 60,53 dan setelah diberi perlakuan adalah 73,11 dan terjadi peningkatan sebesar 20%. Nilai rata-rata siswa pada kata sifat sebelum diberi perlakuan adalah 65,28 dan setelah diberi perlakuan adalah 79,96 dan terjadi peningkatan sebesar 22,4%. Segala puji dan syukur kami panjatkan kehadirat Allah SWT, Tuhan segala tuhan, Raja segala raja, atas segala rahmat dan karunianya sehingga peneliti dapat menyelesaikan skripsi ini dengan judul “Penggunaan Aplikasi Memrise untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Mendengarkan Siswa”.

Uninteresting teaching methods are another element that can affect students' listening skills. Based on the reason mentioned above, the researcher conducted a study titled “Using Memrise Application to Improve Students' Listening Skills”. Based on the previous description, the researcher formulated a research question: “How can Memrise Application improve students' listening skills?”.

Based on the problem statement above, the aim of this research was to determine the use of Memrise application to improve students' listening skills. This research is expected to provide a method for students to learn English and stimulate their interest in listening skill. This research focused on the use of the Memrise application to improve students' listening skills for vocabulary (noun, verb, and adjective) in 8th grade high school.

In the communication process, listening is a receptive skill that helps absorb and understand what the speaker is saying. According to Rubin (1995), listening is defined as an active process in which listeners select and evaluate information from auditory and visual cues to determine what speakers are trying to communicate. Furthermore, Saha (2008) says that listening is an active process that requires processing sound, while hearing is a passive process that merely hears sounds.

Listening is defined as the ability to evaluate information from auditory visual clues and then process the information to understand what the speakers are trying to explain, according to the definition above. According to Brown (2001), listening is the most important component of language learning and teaching because in the classroom students listen more than they speak”. This stage says that listening is fundamental to everyday life because it helps us understand what meaning is.

In this study, the researcher applied purposive sampling to select the sample, choosing one class. They were chosen as a sample because the researcher assumed they had similar knowledge and skills. The result of the post-test shows that the researcher knows that the treatment is effective for students' listening skills.

The researcher used the listening test as an instrument in which the test form was filled in a blank test to measure the improvement of the student's listening ability. After the pre-testing, the researcher begins the treatment, which involves introducing Memrise media into the teaching and learning process to provide opportunities for students to develop their listening skills. By administering this test, the researcher can determine the improvement in students' listening ability when performing this test.

From the table it showed that there was an improvement score between pre-test and post-test. The table showed that the total mean score in pre-test was 55.40 and total score in post-test 74.22. From the table, paired sample statistics showed that students' mean score for Pretest was 55.40 and students'.

The data above showed that students' percentage of nouns in the Pre Test was most common in poor scores with 12 students (48%). Meanwhile, the percentage of Post Test showed that one student got good score with 18 students (72%), 6 students got fair score (24%) and 1 student got poor score (4%) and no student got much bad score. The above data showed that students' percentage of verb in Pre Test was most common in good score with 12 students (48%).

Meanwhile, the percentage of the Post Test showed that one student got a very good result, 21 students with good results (84%), 3 students got fair results (12%) and no student got a poor score. and very weak. The following table shows the percentage of Adjective in Pre-Test and Post-Test. Meanwhile, the Post Test percentage showed that three students got very good result (12%), 14 students got good result (56%), 8 students got fair result (32%).

The following table shows the percentage of the frequency in Pre-Test and Post-Test. The percentage of students who completed pre-tets was most common in Fair score with 13 students (52%). As a result, it can be concluded that the percentage has increased from the pre- and post-test.

It was found that the use of Memrise application improved the listening skills of 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Bungoro.

Discussion

The second meeting was held on 4 March 2021. The research started the class by checking attendance and motivated students before teaching material. The topic at this meeting was listening to the song "That's The Way It Is" by Celine Dion. Before the lesson starts, the researcher reviews previous vocabulary, and then the students continue learning using Memrise Application.

The topic for this meeting was to listen to the fairy tale "The Fisherman and His Wife". The topic on this meeting was listening to the song "Before You Go" by Lewis Capaldi. At this meeting, a subject listened to the fairy tale "The Lion and the Mouse".

So, students' interest in listening skill was low because they assumed that English is a difficult lesson. The researcher concluded that the media used in the teaching process was one of the factors that caused students to listen poorly. After teaching listening skills through the Memrise app, the researcher found that some students seemed motivated to learn English.

It can be proven by improving students' scores between Pre-Test and Post-Test. Aminatun & Oktaviani (2019) claim that the Memrise Application has given positive expression to students' English vocabulary mastery, especially English for business. So it can be concluded that the students' listening ability has improved after receiving six treatments.

Thus, we can conclude that learning through the Memrise application was effective in improving students' listening skills.

Siswa mendiskusikan hasil observasinya dan memverifikasi hasil observasinya dengan data atau teori yang ada di buku acuan melalui kegiatan pengolahan informasi pada materi fungsi sosial, pengembangan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam dialog “Rumah Idamanku”. Generalisasi (menarik siswa untuk membahasnya sebagai kesimpulan) hasil pembahasan materi fungsi sosial yang mengembangkan nilai-nilai dan karakter kehidupan yang positif dalam dialog “Rumah Idamanku”. Siswa mendiskusikan hasil pengamatannya dan memverifikasi hasil pengamatannya dengan data atau teori yang ada di buku sumber melalui kegiatan pengolahan informasi pada materi fungsi sosial, pengembangan nilai-nilai dan karakter kehidupan yang positif dalam dialog “Mendeskripsikan Orang, Tempat dan Benda”.

Siswa berdiskusi untuk menyimpulkan hasil pembahasan materi Fungsi Sosial dalam pengembangan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam dialog “Mendeskripsikan orang, tempat dan benda”. Menyampaikan motivasi tentang apa yang dapat dicapai (tujuan & manfaat) dengan mempelajari materi: Fungsi Sosial mengembangkan nilai. Siswa mendiskusikan hasil observasinya dan memverifikasi hasil observasinya dengan data atau teori yang ada di buku sumber melalui kegiatan pengolahan informasi pada materi Fungsi Sosial untuk mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam lirik lagu “Before You Go” .

Siswa berdiskusi menyimpulkan hasil pembahasan materi Fungsi sosial, mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan. Siswa mengolah data observasi dengan cara: Berdiskusi, mengolah informasi dan mengerjakan beberapa soal di aplikasi Memrise terkait materi fungsi sosial, mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam dongeng. Siswa mendiskusikan hasil observasinya dan mengecek hasil observasinya dengan data atau teori yang ada di buku sumber dengan kegiatan pengolahan informasi pada materi Fungsi Sosial.

Siswa akan menyimpulkan dengan mendiskusikan hasil pembahasan pada materi Fungsi Sosial dalam mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter yang positif. Merencanakan tugas materi Fungsi Sosial untuk mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam dongeng. Dan itu tidak berhasil!” Nelayan itu mencintai istrinya, namun istrinya tidak pernah berhenti mengeluh.

Siswa mengolah data hasil observasi dengan cara: berdiskusi, mengolah informasi, dan mengerjakan beberapa soal di Memrise terkait materi fungsi sosial, mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam lirik lagu “Begitulah Adanya”. Siswa berdiskusi menyimpulkan hasil pembahasan materi Fungsi sosial dalam mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam lirik lagu “Begitulah Adanya”. Merencanakan tugas materi fungsi sosial untuk mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam lirik “Begitulah Adanya”.

Siswa mendiskusikan hasil observasinya dan memverifikasi hasil observasinya dengan data atau teori yang ada di buku sumber melalui kegiatan pengolahan informasi Materi fungsi sosial mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam dongeng “Singa dan Tikus”. Generalisasi (menarik siswa berdiskusi hingga menyimpulkan.kesimpulan) hasil pembahasan materi fungsi sosial yang mengembangkan nilai-nilai kehidupan dan karakter positif dalam dongeng “Singa dan Raja”.
