Judul Skripsi: The use of crosswords to improve students' vocabulary in SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. This research aimed to find out whether students' vocabulary is improved by using word crosswords in first grade in SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. The researcher used pre-experimental research design. The result of this research showed that the word cross game improved students' vocabulary which focused on noun, verb, adjective and adverb. This was proven by the students' post-test scores being higher than the students' pre-test scores. .

Penggunaan Teka-Teki Silang Kata untuk Meningkatkan Kosakata Siswa SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar Di bawah skripsi Jurusan Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pedagogi Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (dibimbing oleh St. Asriati AM dan Ariana). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kosakata siswa bertambah atau tidak dengan menggunakan teka-teki silang di kelas 1 SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permainan teka-teki silang meningkatkan kosa kata siswa dengan fokus pada kata benda, kata kerja, kata sifat dan kata keterangan.

As a result, the Word Cross game is a great way for students to expand their vocabulary. A student's brain can be trained to remember new words by playing a crossword game. The researcher and colleague hopes that the students could improve their vocabulary by playing the crossword puzzle.

The researcher wants to know to what extent the crossword game can improve the vocabulary of students in SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. The scope of this research is limited to the teaching and learning of vocabulary through Word Cross Game to the tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. The research involved using the Word Cross Game to improve students' vocabulary, focusing on nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs.

Yanti (2013) in her research on the influence of word-cross-game to improve students' vocabulary. The indicator is the vocabulary (noun, adjective, verb, adverb) and the implementation of word crossplay. In accordance with the foregoing claims, the word cross game is a common game in which players fill in grids with words or letters.

Some sites also offer instructions on how to make a crossword that meets our requirements. H0 (Null Hypothesis) there is no significant difference in improving students' vocabulary after teaching using Word Cross Game. H1 (Alternative hypothesis) there is a significant difference in improving students' vocabulary after teaching using Word Cross Game.

Based on the result of the test, the research concludes that there is improvement in the use of crossword games to improve students' vocabulary at the first grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. The researcher concludes that there is improvement in the use of crossword to improve students' vocabulary at the ten grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar, the improvement can see the following table. The classifies the students' score of pre-test and post-test with the categories below.

Analysis of T-test analysis was used to find out the significant difference between the students' result of pre-test and post-test. The application of crossword games can significantly improve students' vocabulary at the tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. Building the students' vocabulary achievement through chain word game of the first year students of SMA Muhammadiyah Camba.

FINDING AND DISCUSSION

Findings

The result of the improvement of the use of crossword games to improve students' vocabulary covering noun, verb, adjective and adverb of pre-test and post-test showed that there was an improvement of the use of crossword games to improve students' vocabulary of ten grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. It proves that there were improvements in students' vocabulary at ten grade in SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar. The researcher concludes that there are improvements by using crosswords to improve students' vocabulary at ten grade SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar, the improvement can be seen in the following table.

The researcher concludes that there is improvement in the use of crossword game to improve the adjective vocabulary of students in the tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar, the improvement can be seen in the table below. The researcher concludes that there is an improvement of using the crossword game to improve students' adverbial vocabulary in the tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Makassar, the improvement can be seen in the table below. It means that the average score of the pre-test showed that the students' vocabulary was correct in vocabulary (noun, verb, adjective, adverb).

The mean noun score was 58.88 in the pretest, which showed the student's . vocabulary was fair, while in the post-test 76.33 showed that students' vocabulary was good. The average score of the verb was 53.84 in the pretest, which showed the student's . vocabulary was fair, while in the post-test it was 87.14, which showed that the students' vocabulary was very good. The mean adjective score was 50.76 in the pretest, indicating that the students' vocabulary was good, while it was 80.71 in the posttest, indicating that the students' vocabulary was very good.

The average score of Adverb was 65 in the pre-test, showing that the students' vocabulary was quite good, while in the post-test it was 92.14, showing that the students' vocabulary was excellent.

Discussion

Mintalah presentasi materi semester khusus terkait dengan jenis laporan yang dibuat dan siswa lain akan diberi kesempatan untuk menanggapinya. Menjawab pertanyaan tentang materi semester khusus yang berkaitan dengan jenis laporan yang ada di buku pegangan siswa atau LKS yang disediakan. Siswa dimotivasi atau distimulasi untuk memusatkan perhatian pada pokok bahasan ekspresi dan materi kosakata yang sering digunakan dalam pengumuman (notification).

Siswa dan guru berdiskusi bersama contoh-contoh dalam buku teks tentang materi ekspresif dan kosa kata yang biasa digunakan dalam pengumuman (announcements). Siswa mengerjakan beberapa soal tentang materi ekspresif dan kosa kata yang biasa digunakan dalam pengumuman (announcements). Ajukan pertanyaan tentang presentasi tentang ekspresi dan kosa kata yang biasa digunakan dalam pengumuman dan siswa lain diberi kesempatan untuk menjawabnya.

Menjawab pertanyaan tentang istilah-istilah dan kosa kata yang biasa digunakan dalam pengumuman (announcement) yang terdapat dalam buku pegangan siswa atau LKS pendamping. Siswa dimotivasi atau didorong untuk memusatkan perhatian pada materi tema persamaan dan perbedaan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan. Bersama-sama, siswa dan guru mendiskusikan contoh-contoh di buku teks mengenai persamaan dan perbedaan substantif fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan.

Siswa mengkomunikasikan atau menyajikan materi secara lisan dengan penuh keyakinan akan persamaan dan perbedaan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan, tergantung pemahamannya. Siswa mengerjakan beberapa soal mengenai materi persamaan dan perbedaan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan. Mintalah presentasi tentang persamaan dan perbedaan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan yang akan dilakukan dan siswa lain diberi kesempatan untuk menjawab.

Jawablah pertanyaan tentang materi persamaan dan perbedaan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan yang terdapat pada buku pegangan siswa atau LKS yang telah disediakan.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Conclusion

The use of crossword games to improve students' vocabulary, it was proved by the percentage improvement of each word type, it was 29.63% on nouns, and the number of vocabulary improvements was from 212 to 229. The number of adjective improvements was from 132 to 226, and the percentage was 59% on adjective. The number of improvements of adverbs was from 78 to 129, and the percentage was 41.75% on adverbs.

Suggestion

Siswa dimotivasi atau didorong untuk memusatkan perhatian pada isi materi dalam istilah tertentu yang entah bagaimana berkaitan dengan jenis pengumumannya. Siswa dan guru bekerja sama mengenai contoh-contoh di buku teks dengan materi konseptual khusus yang berkaitan dengan jenis pengumuman. Siswa mengkomunikasikan secara verbal atau dengan percaya diri menyajikan materi dalam istilah tertentu yang berkaitan dengan jenis pemberitahuan berdasarkan pemahamannya.

Menyelesaikan uji kompetensi materi semester tertentu terkait dengan jenis pemberitahuan yang disertakan dalam buku pegangan siswa atau lembar kerja yang disediakan secara individual untuk memverifikasi penguasaan siswa terhadap materi. Siswa berkomunikasi secara lisan atau menyajikan materi dengan percaya diri menggunakan ungkapan dan kosa kata yang biasa digunakan dalam pengumuman (notifikasi), tergantung pemahamannya. Melakukan uji kompetensi terhadap materi ekspresi dan kosa kata yang biasa digunakan dalam pengumuman (pemberitahuan) di buku pegangan siswa atau pada LKS yang disediakan secara individual untuk memeriksa penguasaan siswa terhadap materi.

Menyelesaikan Uji Kompetensi Persamaan dan Perbedaan Fungsi Sosial, Struktur Teks, dan Unsur Kebahasaan dari Pedoman Peserta. Rencanakan pekerjaan rumah untuk materi yang baru saja Anda selesaikan tentang persamaan dan perbedaan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan. Siswa dimotivasi atau didorong untuk fokus pada topik materi pada produksi teks prediktif.

Siswa dan guru bersama-sama mendiskusikan contoh-contoh dalam buku teks yang berkaitan dengan mata pelajaran Menyusun teks pemberitahuan (pengumuman). Siswa berkomunikasi secara lisan atau menyajikan materi dengan penuh percaya diri untuk menciptakan teks pesan sesuai dengan pemahamannya. Mintalah presentasi materi Penyusunan teks pesan (pesan) yang dilaksanakan dan siswa lain mendapat kesempatan untuk menjawabnya.

Jawablah pertanyaan materi Penyusunan teks pemberitahuan pada buku pegangan siswa atau LKS yang telah dibagikan. Menyelesaikan uji kompetensi materi membuat teks eksekutif yang terdapat pada buku pegangan siswa atau pada LKS yang disediakan secara individu untuk mengecek penguasaan siswa terhadap materi pelajaran.
