The problem that students face is that students find it difficult to express idea in writing, especially narrative text. This research is conducted to discuss how driving dictation strategy affects students' ability to write narrative text. This shows that there is some positive and significant impact of using running dictation strategy towards students' skills in writing narrative text at grade eleven in SMAN 1 Punggur academic year 2016/2017.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membahas bagaimana pengaruh strategi running dictation terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks narrative. Judulnya Pengaruh Strategi Dikte Berlari Terhadap Keterampilan Menulis Teks Narasi Siswa.

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Problems Identification

Problem Limitation

Based on the problem identification above, the researcher limited the problems in the second problem to the students having problems expressing their ideas in writing. So, the researcher used Running Dictation as a strategy in teaching writing to the eleventh grade in Senior High School of 1 Punggur in the academic year of 2016/2017.

Problem Formulation

In order to achieve the purpose of a writing assignment, students may use different genres or types of writing. Genre refers to the expected form or communicative function of a written product; for example, a letter, an essay, a lab report. Thus, there is a positive and significant impact of using fluent dictation as a strategy on students' narrative text proficiency. The researcher hypothesizes that teaching using fluent dictation as a strategy to students' narrative text skills is good.

Thus, there is no positive and significant influence of using dictation as a strategy on students' narrative text skills. The researcher then analyzed the data to examine the influence of executing the dictation strategy on students' writing skills in writing narrative text. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) explains "there is a positive and significant influence of using the running dictation strategy on students' ability to write narrative text when drawing conclusions".

The result of the pre-test and the result of the test of the student's ability to write a narrative text in drawing conclusions. The result showed that students' narrative text writing ability improved after they were taught using the fluent dictation strategy. Based on the analysis and results of the research, the researcher can conclude that the dictation management strategy has a positive effect on the students' narrative text writing skills.

There was a significant influence of using the running dictation strategy for the students' writing skills of narrative text to make the conclusion of SMAN 1 PUNGGUR. This means that "there is a positive and significant influence of the use of running dictation strategy for students' writing skills of narrative text to draw conclusions at the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Punggur in the academic year of 2016/2017". Therefore, in this research the writer focuses on teaching narrative text skills to eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Punggur using Guided Dictation Strategy. Furthermore, if the dictation guidance strategy is applied perfectly, the students' narrative text ability will be good, and if the dictation guidance strategy is incorrectly applied, then the students' narrative text ability will be bad. . According to Sabine Walner, running dictation is the activity where students run to a text and read it and then pass the information orally to a partner who either has to write the whole text or fill in the missing words in a blank text .25.

According to Cohen, Widiyanto argues that a small group as an ongoing dictation strategy can be a way to achieve a good learning process. Dictation is an easy and fun activity suitable for any level where a writer and runner are needed.

A pre-test was given to the students in the first session to initially determine their narrative writing skill before using the fluency strategy in the writing skill. In addition, the researcher demonstrated a research instrument in the form of grids as follows:. The purpose of the pre-test is to find out the students' skill in writing a narrative text.

In addition, the graph below illustrates the frequency distribution of students' ability to write narrative text in deriving completion scores in the post-test. It was good to know how the use of a running dictation strategy affects students' ability to write narrative text when drawing conclusions from the results of those tests.

Using the t-test formula, the researcher determined whether there is a positive and significant impact of using the fluent dictation strategy on the narrative text writing skills of students in the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Punggur in the academic year 2016/2017. The researcher formulated an alternative hypothesis (Ha) such as: "there is a positive and significant influence of the use of fluent dictation strategy on students' narrative text writing skill in reasoning in the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Punggur in the academic year 2016 /2017". The subject of the research was the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Punggur in the academic year 2016/2017.

Moreover, Anderson with Arsenault decided that "the instrument includes the test and the questionnaire, the observation schedule and any other tool used to collect data".34 Whereas, this research is a pre-experimental design with the application of a pre- -group test and post-test. The researcher measured teaching writing through the Directing Dictation Strategy with pre-test, treatment and post-test. Whereas, the post-test was given in the last meeting after the treatment to see if the statement gives any contribution to the students' narrative text writing ability in the post-test is higher than the pre-test or there is a positive and significant difference. between the pre-test and the post-test result.

Documentation as a method used to obtain information from written language or documentation, for example, book, journal, rule, note, etc. Furthermore, the researcher used this method to obtain the data for the eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Punggur academic year 2016/2017.

Hypothesis Testing

Using directional dictation appropriately can help students develop their narrative writing skills. It can be seen from the pre-test and post-test score of the students. Discover meaning and rhetoric in essays using a variety of language, write correctly, smoothly and in the context of everyday life in the form of a narrative text.
