THE DIAGNOSTIC VALUE OF SERUM ASCITES ALBUMIN GRADIENT - (SAAG) IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS
The aim of this study was to investigate the significance of SAAG in differentiating aseite and determine the correlation between SAAG and the presence of portal hypertension The result showed that, the mean SAAG value for patients with malignant tuberculosis was 7 11 ± 7 95, while the SAAG value was 23.25 ± 7.69 for patients wilh liver cirrhosis The SAAG cut off value from differentiating ascites from cirrhosis and tuberculosis was 15 2g/L (AUROC 0 812) Using the ROC curve, a SAAG value of greater than 18 6 and 19 7 were a good predictor of the presence of vances and bleeding vances In conclusion, SAAG gradient value was valuable in differentiating ascites caused by portal hypertension or malignancy For cirrhosis patients, SAAG values can be used lo predict the presence of vances, but nol valuable in predicting bleeding from esophageal varices

EFFICIENCY OF SHELLAC F VARNISH IN DENTAL CARIES PREVENTION IN 12 YEARS-OLD CHILDREN AFTER 12 MONTHS A single-blmd, randomized controlled trial was conducted in 207 children (12 years-old) living in a non-fluoridated area to evaluate the efficiency of Shellac F in dental caries prevention.
Shellac F and Duraphat® were applied in two experimental groups every 3 months, and no appli- cation of fluoride varnishes was done in the cpntrol group. Dental canes were evaluated according to the International Canes Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS 11) by 3 calibrated examin- ers. After 12 months, the mean scores of new carious teeth and teeth surfaces of the two experi- mental groups were significantly lower than that of the control group Ip < 0 05) in SI code There was no significant difference observed between the two expenmental groups (p > 0.05) However, the percentage of dental canes reduction was 29% in Shellac F and 11% in Duraphat* treated groups compared to the control groups (p < 0 05) This study demonstrated that Shellac F and Duraphat® were both effective in dental canes prevention in 12 years-old children after 12 months
