Drive by shooting
kills night club owner
Lentswe, Stilfontein - Gunshots thundered through the Civic Centre in the early hours of Sunday June 26.
The shots were fired in front of the Blue Moon night club. Club owner Isaac Agu (43) was gunned down in
an apparent assassination. He was shot four times outside the club at 03:10 and died at the scene. It was described as a scene straight out of a mafia film.
According to the police, Agu was
shot on the pavement outside Blue Moon. This well-known Nigerian businessman who owns several night clubs was inside the club when a bouncer called him to the front door because one of the patrons wanting
to enter was carrying a knife. Wea- pons are not allowed in the club.
“There was a commotion and then a car pulled up and four shots were fired, killing Agu instantly,” said Capt Afjee Botma, police spokesper- son.
Agu owned Miller Lounge in the Klerksdorp CBD, as well as clubs in Ikageng and Potchefstroom.
At the time of going to press, the assassin was still on the run.
The police investigation continues.
Lentswe, Khuma - A smile was brought to the children of Rorisang Home Cen- tre when a donation of hundreds of blankets arrived to fight the coldness of winter.
The event was held at NG Kerk on Saturday June 26 in Khuma. This cen- tre is taking care of at least 389 vulne- rable children.
Centre manager, Mojabeng Mafohla said they are feeding these children from in the morning before they go to school and also after school.
“We also help them with their school work, organise career exhibitions for them and many things,” she said.
This blanket drive was done by
Potchefstroom GKLM Events and MEG Security in conjunction with GoBig- Media and Banna Ba Kae Tlokwe Men’s Forum.
After receiving blankets, Mafohla said thanks to the Good Samaritan since children will sleep warm and wished that other poor people or children could also be help just like their centre.
She told Lentswe that they do have a serious challenge about their place.
“We were once giving a big place with a shelter on it, but it kept on being van- dalised. We are appealing to get help to fix our place because we have a high number of children that we are help- ing,” she added.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Prison is no five-star hotel and when you are incar- cerated you are not on holiday.
These are some of the misconcep- tions by the youth that the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) wanted to debunk when they arranged for local schools to visit the Klerksdorp Correctional Centre.
Kgololosego Madolo from DCS said the educational tour was very educational indeed. “Learners were educated about life in the centre and that ultimately crime does not pay.
We realised that there’s a desperate need to debunk these myths that troublesome high school learners often have about a correctional cen- tre and we wanted to show that life inside is not what they think it is,’’
she said.
Learners were shown the admission
process and officials demonstrated how fingerprints were taken. An offender told learners about his experience and how he regrets ever committing crime.
He has spent the last 23 Christmases behind bars as he is serving a life sen-
tence.
The offender echoed that learners shouldn’t take the educational visit for granted because if he knew then what he knows now about a correctional cen- tre he would’ve made better decisions
and choices. “This emphasised the importance of this initiative that lear- ners should not engage in any criminal behaviour because life in the centre is actually harsh and precarious,’’ said Madodo.
Learners from local schools visited the Klerksdorp Correctional Centre recently.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The elective SAFA conference has come and gone. Critics and talks were very loud and now all have subsided into thin air.
NW Province has also seen newly-elected SAFA NEC members taking their rightful posi- tions to lead it to greater heights.
The SAFA elective conference took place in Sandton on June 25
and Monde Montshi- wa retained his position as the SAFA NEC member.
David Molwantwa was again elected as the NW provin- cial chairperson.
Orapeleng Setlhare was voted as the Deputy Chairperson for NW province.
When asked how
he feels, Setlhare said: “The SAFA elective conference came and went. All talks are like water under the bridge now. What remains to be seen is rolling up of sleeves and develop soccer from the lower levels at the LFA’s”.
Before the SAFA national Conference could take place there were two attempts, by Ria Ledwaba and her allies, to stop the conference
but all plans were thwarted and dismissed with costs where Ledwaba becoming liable to pay the costs in one attempt.
Ledwaba also lost her position as the NEC member and SAFA deputy president.
Klerksdorp BCS clashed with Zamalek Masters at the Correctional Services on June 22. It was in celebration of Youth Month. BCS won 2-0. Seen is the victorious Klerksdorp BCS.
