Grammar is the system of language. People sometimes describe grammar as the ‘rules’ of a language. Actually the word grammar has several meanings and descriptions attempted by linguists. Many people in the world speak their own language without having study its grammar system. They speak natively and naturally without learning the rules. Children start to speak their native language before they even know the word grammar. But, if we want to study a second or foreign language the process will be different.Therefore, in this research the writer analyze the error of grammar TOEFL Prediction test of second semester students of English Department of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin academic year 2015/2016.

The problem formulations of this research are: how is grammar TOEFL Predictiontest result of second semester students at English Department of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin academic year 2015/2016!What are the most common error materials of grammar TOEFL Predictiontest result of second semester students at English Department of IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin academic year 2015/2016?

The subject of this research is 169students of second semester students of English Department academic year 2015/2016. The objects of the research arethe result of grammar TOEFL Prediction test of second semester students at English Department of IAIN Antasari academic year 2015/2016.

To collect the data, the writer uses the techniques of test, interview, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into five phases: editing, coding, frequency computation, tabulating and data interpretation. Then, all the data are analyzedquantitatively.

The result of this research states that the students’ ability in grammar TOEFL Prediction testof second semester students at English Department of IAIN Antasari academic year 2015/2016 is categorized into good category with the average score 54,23. This research also states that the most common error in grammar TOEFL Prediction test of second semester students at English Department of IAIN Antasari academic year 2015/2016 with the number of students’ incorrect answer is 15.26%, from 169 students, there are 129 students who answered Gerund and infinitives incorrectly.

Grammar merupakan sistema suatu bahasa. Banyak orang kadang-kadang menggambarkan Grammar sebagai aturan bahasa. Biasanya kata Grammar mempunyai beberapa definisi yang digambarkan oleh linguistik. Banyak orang dengan bahasa mereka tanpa mempelajari sistem tata bahasa. Mereka bicara secara natural dan apa adanya tanpa mempelajari aturan. Anak-anak biasakan bicara dengan bahasa mereka sendiri sebelum mereka kenal kata grammar. Tetapi, jika kita ingin belajar bahasa asing prosesnya berbeda. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini penulis menganalisis kesalahan gramar tes TOEFL Prediction mahasiswa semester dua di IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2015/2016.

Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana kemampuan gramar tes TOEFL Prediction mahasiswa semester dua di IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2015/2016! Materi yang mempunyai banyak kesalahan dalam gramar tes TOEFL Prediction mahasiswa semester dua di IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2015/2016.

Subjek penelitian ini adalah 169 mahasiswa semester dua jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Objek penelitian adalah hasil gramar test TOEFL Prediction mahasiswa semester dua di IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2015/2016

Untuk mengumpulkan data, penulis menggunakan beberapa teknik, yaitu tes, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Proses data dalam penelitian ini dibagi dalam lima bagian: pengeditan, komputasi frekuensi, tabulasi dan interpretasi. Kemudian semua data di análisis secara kuantitatif.

Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa semester dua dalam grammar test TOEFL Prediction pada jurusan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2015/2016 termasuk dalam kategoribaikdengan rata-rata 54,23.Penelitian ini juga menyatakan bahwa masalah yang palingbanyakdalamgramar tes TOEFL Prediction jurusan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dengan jumlah mahasiswa yang mempunyai banyak kesalahan adalah 15.26% dari 169%, ada 129 mahasiswa yang menjawab gerund and infinitives dengan salah.
