With the name of God let me thank to Allah SWT for His mercies, blessings, and guidance so I could be able to accomplish this final project entitled The Impact of Interactive Notebooks on English Oral Competence of The Fourth Graders at Sd 2 Purwosari Kudus In Academic Year 2015/2016.

Impressed by a workshop in theme the use of Interactive Notebooks to teach English at Cambodia by Jean Pierre; one of presenters of the International Conference TEYLIN (Teaching English for Young Learners) at Muria Kudus University on 2nd September of 2014, have created a big intention to conduct this research in investigating Interactive Notebooks’ impact on teaching English to Indonesian young generations. By trying to modify and relate the use of Interactive Notebook which had critical differences with other notebooks at the book store, solving problem faced by the fourth graders at SD 2 Purwosari Kudus in academic year 2015/2016, nowadays was the real objective that I expected.

The source problem they faced were vocabulary lacking, difficulty in pronouncing and expressing ideas in English. By assuming interactive notebooks as the aid of it, I determined the objective of this research as to describe whether Interactive Notebooks give a significant impact on English oral competence of the fourth graders at SD 2 Purwosari Kudus in academic year 2015/2016.

The subject of this research was the fourth graders at SD 2 Purwosari Kudus in academic year 2015/2016 consisted 32 students. The research design used was an experimental research design with Pre-test and Post-test by using interactive notebooks as the treatment. The research instruments used oral test. At last, the result of the test was analyzed using t-test formula.

Meanwhile, the t (obtained) value is 16.3 in level of significance 5% and degree of freedom “N-1, 32-1=31, the t (table) is 2.042. Because of the condition; t (obtained) value > t (table) value, it means t (obtained) fell in the critical region. Therefore, the research hypothesis H1, which states that there is a significant

impact on English Oral Competence of the fourth graders at SD 2 Purwosari Kudus in academic year 2015/2016, was confirmed.

Terkesan oleh workshop dengan tema penggunaan Interactive Notebooks untuk pengajaran bahasa Inggris di Cambodia oleh Jean Pierre; salah satu pembicara dalam Konferensi Internasional TEYLIN (Teaching English for Young Learners) di Universitas Muria Kudus, 2 September 2014, membuat saya berkeinginan besar untuk mengadakan penelitian dalam rangka menyelidiki pengaruh interactive notebooks pada pengajaran bahasa Inggris kepada generasi muda Indonesia. Dengan mencoba untuk memodifikasi dan menghubungkan kegunaan interactive notebooks yang mempunyai perbedaan dengan notebooks yang dijual di toko buku, mengatasi masalah yang dihadapi siswa kelas IV SD 2 Purwosari Kudus tahun ajaran 2015/2016 kali ini merupakan tujuan utama yang diharapkan dengan diadakannya penelitian ini.

Masalah utama yang mereka hadapi adalah kurangannya perbendaharaan kosakata, pelafalan, dan penyampaian gagasan dalam bahasa Inggris. Dengan berasumsi bahwa interactive notebooks merupakan solusi dari masalah tersebut, saya menentukan bahwa tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan ada tidaknya pengaruh yang signifikan dari interactive notebooks pada kemampuan oral berbahasa Inggris siswa kelas IV SD 2 Purwosari tahun ajaran 2015/2016.

Subjek penelitian ini merupakan seluruh siswa kelas IV SD 2 Purwosari Kudus tahun ajaran 2015/2016 yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Design dari penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan menyertakan pretest dan posttest serta interactive notebooks sebagai treatment. Penelitian ini menggunakan oral tes sebagai instrument pengumpulan data, serta dat-data terkumpul dianalisa menggunakan rumus t-test formula.

Sementara itu, hasil perhitungan data menunjukkan bahwa t (obtained) berada pada titik 16.3 pada tingkat signifikan 5% dan derajat bebas N-1, 32-1=31, serta t (tabel) pada 2.042. Dikarenakan kondisi tersebut; nilai t (obtained) > t (table), berarti bahwa t (obtained) jatuh pada daerah kritis. Sehingga alternative hipotesis dari penelitian ini diterima, yang berbunyi bahwa terdapat dampak yang signifikan pada kemampuan oral berbahasa Inggris siswa kelas IV SD 2 Purwosari Kudus tahun ajaran 2015/2016.
