ABSTRAK
Akne vulgaris (AV) adalah penyakit kulit obstruktif dan inflamatif kronik pada unit pilosebasea. Penyebab akne vulgaris yang pasti belum diketahui, tetapi banyak faktor yang berpengaruh seperti sebum, bakteria, faktor genetik, hormon, diet, iklim, psikis, kosmetika, bahan-bahan kimia, reaktivitas. Selain menimbulkan gejala fisik, AV juga dapat berdampak pada psikologis, gangguan sosial dan emosi yang akan mempengaruhi kualitas hidupnya.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas hidup pasien AV pada mahasiswi angkatan 2011 Fakultas Kedokteran Sumatra Utara.
Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dengan metode “cross sectional study”dengan jumlah sampel 80 orang, tingkat kepercayaan (d) sebesar 0,1. Sampel diambil dengan teknik accidental sampling.
Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan mayoritas pasien AV berusia 21 tahun (53.8%), menderita akne vulgaris lebih dari 1 tahun (53.8%), lokasi lesi berada di muka (93.8%), mempunyai abang/kakak/adik yang juga menderita akne vulgaris (48.8%), berpendapat bahwa jenis makanan yang dapat mempengaruhi akne vulgaris adalah gorengan (35%), kosmetik yang dapat memicu akne vulgaris adalah alas bedak (foundation) (47.5%), akne vulgaris timbul sebelum menstruasi (52.5%), memiliki IPK 2.51-3.00 (41.3%), dan kualitas hidup sangat baik (70%).
Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kualitas hidup pasien akne vulgaris pada mahasiswi angkatan 2011 sangat baik.

ABSTRACT
Acne vulgaris (AV) is obstructive skin disease and chronic inflammation on Pilosebasea unit. The cause of AV is still unknown, but there are several factors that could affect the occurrence of AV such as sebum, bacteria, genetic issue, hormones, diet, climate, psychosocial, cosmetics, chemical liquids, and reactivity affected. Besides effecting physical symptom, AV has also impacted mental, social disturbance and emotion which influence the quality of life.
The study is to determine the quality of life on acne vulgaris patient among the students of Medical Faculty of the North Sumatera University class of 2011.
The study shows that the majority AV patients aged 21 years old (53.8%), suffer AV more than 1 year (53.8%), lesions located on face (93.8%), have siblings with AV issue (48.8%), contend that oily food affects AV (35%), foundation as cosmetic that triggers AV (47.5%), AV develops before menstruation (52.5%), have IPK 2.51-3.00 (41.3%) quality of life is very good (70%).
