Diabetes mellitus (DM) remains a local, regional or national and global health problems. This prospective cross sectional non-eksperimental research analyzed DRPs but was limited only to indication without drug, drug without indication and drug interaction experienced by the T2DM patients (n = 39) admitted to Haji Adam Malik hospital based on literatures, the patients’ quality of life using Short-Form-36 (SF-36), and their association analyzed using Chi-square.
This study indicated that the patients experienced indication without drug (13%), drug without indication (8%) and drug interactions (18%). There were 13 patients (33%) with good quality of life and 26 patients (67%) with bad quality life. There was no significant association between incidence of DRPs and the patients’ quality of life, p = 0,290.
Drug related problems in treatment of patient with T2DM was still high. Most of the patients (67%) had bad quality of life. There was no association between incidence of DRPs and the patients’ quality of life.
