CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

5.1 Conclusion

Based on the previous chapter, it can be concluded that there are 146 utterances in the SL and in TL of the novel. The translation types used by the translator in translating The Alchemist into Sang Alkemis are word for word translation, free translation, literal translation, dynamic translation, semantic translation, pragmatic translation, linguistic translatic, ethnographic translation, and communicative translation.

There are 9 utterances (6,16%) using word for word translation, there are 32 utterances (21,91%) using free translation, there are 62 utterances (42,46 %) using literal translation, there is 1 utterance (0,68 %) using dynamic translation, there are 18 utterances (12,32 %) using pragmatic translation, there is 1 utterance (0,68%) using ethnographic translation, there are 19 utterances (13,01%) using communicative translation, there are 4 utterances (2,73 %) using semantic translation.

through his own language style and structure but it is not change the message of the SL

The lowest percentage is ethnographic (0,68%) and dynamic translation (0,68%). Ethnographic translation is to explicates the cultural context of the SL into the TL version, but the translator rare to used it because he or she is translated the text without changes the cultural context of SL and without an explaination about the cultural context of SL. Dynamic translation is called natural translation, the translator is rare to use this type also because he or she avoids to use custom expressions in target language.

5.2 Suggestion

According to this result, this suggestion can give a valuable contribution to the readers, and students of Faculty of Humanities, especially English Department. And this following suggestions that researcher can be:

1. Those are interested in this study especially in translation types, it is good to be more careful in analyzed what types the translator used in a translation work. 2. Those are involved in translation research and need references it is helpful to

read and comprehend the theory about translation types before conducting a research related to this study.
