Problem Statement
Comics as a visual media is a media for effective learning to develop creativity readers because there is a visual illustration of a story delivered. Using comics as a media to improve students' reading comprehension, Comic also has pictures and related content so that it can also be read through the image. Another advantage of the use of comics is able to speed up the process of receiving a message that will be delivered and allows that messages obtained by the student will be stored in their memory for longer.
Based on the above background, the purpose of this study is to improve students' reading comprehension through English comics as a media.

Harmer says a range of objects, pictures and other things that can be used as teaching media to present and manipulate language and to engage students in the activities. Basically, interest in reading is one of the internal factors that had an influence on reading comprehension. Reading aloud is a type of reading where a reader has verbalized each word in the text.
Based on definition above, the researcher can conclude that reading comprehension is the way of the readers to understand a written text. Output: Refers to improving the students' Literal Comprehension and Interpretive Comprehension, so that students can read English well.

Based on the population above, the researcher uses purposive sampling to select the sample because the population is too large and suggested by the teacher. In this case, the researcher takes only one class consisting of 30 students of eight grade, especially VIII A and the researcher be easy to manage the class.

In the post test, the researcher will give the students a reading material about Roro jongrang and Prambanan Temple, then evaluate them by using the reading task to know whether the students' reading comprehension is improved by using English cartoon as a medium or not.

It also described the students' reading comprehension in general through the distribution of pretest and posttest. Students' literal reading comprehension by using English cartoon as media is improved in terms of main idea and sequence of details. So the improvement in students' literal reading comprehension between pre-test to post-test was 55%.
The table indicated that the students' reading comprehension in terms of interpretation after using English cartoon as a media method improved. Therefore, the improvement in students' reading comprehension in terms of interpretation between pre-test to post-test was 28%. Students' reading comprehension by using English comics as a medium improves in accordance with the literal and interpretive expressions.
The table shows the average score of students' achievements in reading comprehension in the literal and interpretive sense. The data showed that students' reading comprehension improved after using the English Comic as Media method. Therefore, there was a significant improvement of about 41% pre-test and post-test in the student's reading comprehension using the English comics method as a medium.
The table below shows the percentage of students' performance in interpretation in the application of English Comic as Media method. The percentage of students' performance in reading comprehension is explained in the following table which applies the English Comic as Media method. This indicates that there is a significant difference between the students' literal and interpretive reading comprehension in reading through English Comic as Media.
Discussion
Achieving Students' Reading Comprehension Before and After the English Comic as Media Method. In the previous consideration, there was a significant difference in students' reading comprehension when the English Comic as Media method was used. The mean score was 67.83 before using the English Comic as Media method and the mean score was 87.36 after using the English Comic as Media method.
It implies that the use of English Comic as Media method can improve students' performance in reading comprehension. It implies that English cartoon as a media method is very useful in improving students' reading comprehension. This research shows that there is an influence between English comics as a media method on students' reading comprehension, especially in literal and interpretive comprehension levels.
This research deals with the application of English cartoon as a media method in students' reading comprehension, especially in narrative text to find the main idea, detail sequence and conclusion. This research creates new knowledge in literal and interpretive, especially in narrative text easily and effectively by using English cartoon as a media method to teach reading comprehension. The method of English cartoon as media affects and improved students' reading comprehension more significantly in the second grade of SMP NEGERI 1 BARRU.
Where the average score of the pretest is 58.6 and it is classified as fair, while the posttest is 86.56 and it is classified as very good. The data shows that the average score in the pre-test is 56.4 and is classified as fair, while in the post-test the score is 92.6 and is classified as very good. An interpretive reading of Making a Conclusion to the Story shows that students' understanding improves by approximately 28% more.
