The purpose of this research was to determine the positive effect and effectiveness of using the dictation method on students' ability to write a narrative text. This study was conducted to discuss the effectiveness of dictation method on student's ability to write English texts. This undergraduate thesis is presented as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Sarjana Pendidikan (S Pd.) in the Department of English Education entitled: "EFFECTIVENESS OF DICTATION METHOD IN TEACHING WRITING SKILLS TO TENTH GRADE SMA NEGERI 1 SEPUTIH RAMAN CENTRAL LAMPUNG.".
The first previous research was done by Sri Ramayani entitled "The effect of performing dictation model on students' writing ad text ability in the tenth grade students of Sma Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan"2. In addition, the second previous research investigates the effectiveness of using dictation in teaching vocabulary, while the effectiveness of dictation in teaching writing is investigated in this study. Researcher focuses on the first and third previous research that uses the method of the Quantitative research on effectiveness dictation in the teaching of writing.

The independent variable is the dictation method and the dependent variable is the students' writing ability, especially when repeating text. Therefore, in this research, the researcher focuses on teaching students' writing ability, especially in the repetition of the text in the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Seputih Raman using the dictation method. Based on the figure above, it can be described that the use of dictation method affects or is effective on students' writing ability, especially when repeating text.
H0 : The dictation method is not effective in teaching writing ability, especially in narrative text at grade ten of SMA Negeri 1 Seputih Raman. Ha : The dictation method is effective in teaching writing ability, especially in narrative text at grade ten of SMA Negeri 1 Seputih Raman. Post-test was to know the students' narrative text writing ability after receiving treatment by using the dictation method.
The writer also took a pre-test in the control class to know their narrative text writing ability. The author also conducted a post-test in the control class to find out the students' development in writing narrative text after receiving treatment using a brainstorming technique. Based on the result of data analysis, the author concluded that the dictation method was effective in teaching students' narrative text.
At the beginning of the study, the researcher described several procedures used to determine students' writing skills in recount texts. It means that using the treatment dictation method has had a positive impact on the learning process of writing, especially in the recount text. Based on the result of data analysis, the author concluded that the dictation method was effective in teaching students the writing skills of recount texts in the ten graders of SMA N 1 Seputih Raman in the first semester.
It can be seen from the students' score in the post-test between the control class and the experimental class. The post-test was given to measure the effectiveness of the dictation method on the students' ability to write text in both classes after the treatments. Based on the result of data analysis, the writer concludes that the dictation method was effective in teaching students the ability to narrate the text in writing in the first semester in the ten classes of SMA N 1 Seputih Raman.
Objective and Benefit of the Study

From the example above, we can see that the first paragraph of retell text is orientation. So there is a positive and significant impact of using dictation as a method for students' retelling text skills. The test was conducted by asking the students to write their retelling text based on the titles given.
In addition, the dictation method had an effect on students' writing ability, especially in narrative text, because according to Nawal Benmostefa, dictation helps. In this research, the author found out that the dictation method was effective for students' writing ability in teaching writing ability, especially retelling text, the English teacher can use dictation methods as one of the methods in teaching writing, especially retelling text. In this research, the author used dictation method to help students at Senior High School with process learning, especially in retelling ability.

From all the experts' statements above, it can be concluded that the dictation method has a great effect on students in the learning process. The researcher determined the material that was taught to the students and the material was about narrative text writing. This was the first meeting, the author conducted pre-test assignments to find out the previous students' ability to narrate text writing. The author explained about narrative text, especially theme and the generic structure of retelling text.
Initial tests are given to know the quality of students' writing ability in the recount text before it is taken care of by the researcher. By using dictation, it would help students develop their idea in writing the recount text. They also need to be active and creative to make good writing especially in recount text.

Based on the document, SMA N 1 Seputih Raman is the only public high school in Seputih Raman sub-district, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung. This school is one of the high schools that implements the full-day school system.

The minimum standard criteria for English is 70 and based on the data above only 7 students (26%) scored more than the minimum mastery criteria (MMC. After that, the writer started to read the retelling text about vacation for several times at normal speed and after they listen to the retelling text, they have to write from their memory, if necessary they can add their own words. After they finished at the end of the lesson, the author and the students discussed their writing together. The second treatment was better than the first because the students no longer looked nervous and they enjoyed the materials provided.
After explaining the material, the writer told the students that they were doing the exercises while doing the dictation method like the first treatment. After this, the writer and the students discussed together, then the writer gave the students a chance to ask if they had any problems. It was better than before, as the students felt accustomed to teaching the learning process using the dictation method.
After explaining about the material, the author told the students to practice based on the given topic while using the dictation method as the first and second treatments. The students looked interesting in the learning process of the lesson, they enjoyed the material and were enthusiastic to do the task.

That is, the dictation method makes students improve their memory in the process of learning to write. Based on the analysis and the result of the research, the researchers come to the conclusion that the dictation method has a significant positive result towards the students. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
Conclusion
So there was a significant difference in the learning outcomes of the students in the experimental class that used a treatment dictation method between the control class that received no treatment. Based on the data analysis result, the mean post-test score in the experimental class was 76.07 and the mean post-test score in the control class was 68.81. It showed that the post-test score of the students in the experimental class was higher than the post-test score of the students in the control class.
