Influence of solution process parameter to iron catalyst thin film and particle formation.

The second stage of spin coating process is the substrate is speed up until it reaches its final desired speed. This is known as acceleration. During this stage, it commonly defined by the fluid removal aggressiveness from the rotational motion on its water surface. Due to the depth of initial fluid on the water surface, the present of spiral twisted might be found at this stage. This might be the result from the twisting motion caused by motion of inertia that the top of the fluid layer and at the same time, the water below keeps rotating in increasing speed. When, the liquid is thin enough, which it’s completely co-rotating with the substrate, the difference between the thicknesses is gone. Finally, when the substrate reaches its desired speed and the thickness of the thin film is thin enough, the viscous shear drag the rotational acceleration balance.

High Mobility Pentacene Based Thin Film Transistors With a Solution Processed Barium Titanate Insulator

All measurements were obtained under atmospheric condi- tions at room temperature. The chemical composition and bind- ing energy of the barium titanate thin film were measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The electrical strength of the barium titanate thin film and the electrical characteristics of the transistors were analyzed with a semicon- ductor parameter analyzer (HP 4156B). A FACE contact-angle meter (Kyowa Kaimenkagaku Co.) was used to measure the surface energy of the barium titanate thin film. Atomic force microscope (AFM) images were measured through the contact mode of a scanning probe microscope.

World population growth over the years causing the need of electricity is becoming vital. With the increasing cost of electricity from conventional sources and the effect of global warming it is essential to shift to renewable energies to meet the global energy demand. Photovoltaic (PV) solar cell technology is one of the most promising options of all the renewable technologies that can convert sunlight into electricity (Faiz et al., 2014; Green, 2000). Among the various PV technologies, such as Si based, a-Si:H and thin film; CIGS and CdTe solar cell which belonging to thin film solar cell group have the large potential for cost reduction with respect to power generation efficiency. The highest reported efficiencies of a CIGS and CdTe solar cell are 19.6% and 18.3%, respectively (Green et al., 2013).

In this paper, the effect of spin speed on thickness of Co catalyst thin films produced by spin coating technique is investigated. The main aim for this research is to achieve smaller thickness of thin film which will be used to grow CNTs on the silicon substrates. The thickness of Co catalyst thin films over various spin speed of spin coating is studied. The ability of the produced Co catalyst particles to grow CNTs on the substrates is also discussed.

The ultimate goal for this project is to optimize the thin film formation that deals great potential in CNT growth technology, it is better to replace high energy consuming PVD to the solution process which can be conducted in a simple way in ambient environment. This chapter provides background information and history about CNT. Information on particle synthesis and its link to the catalytic growth on particles is also provided. Moreover theory and information about particles and particle synthesis is discussed and elaborated. Furthermore, several types of thin film deposition that is often from the previous research. Finally influence of parameter of spin coating and annealing are also described.

CHARACTERIZATION STUDY OF SILVER TITANIUM DIOXIDE (AgTiO2) THIN FILM DEPOSITED ON VARIOUS SUBSTRATES VIA SOL-GEL TECHNIQUE.

It was experimented that stainless steel should have a different range of drying methods due to the different thermal expansion of both substrate and thin film. According to the first observation through Optical Microscope (OM, Inverted Research Microscope with Processing and Analysis), the coating layer is not clearly visible in the image. The result is as shown in Figure 4.5 with the magnification of x10. Assumption of corrosion occurs in both situation due to the existence of water in the sol gel formulation and air in the room temperature dry-condition. Both of the cooling conditions were controlled at the respective temperature. The big black spots in sample b are assumed to show the corrosion pitting. Also, there exist white lines in sample b, which shows the evidence of cracks on the thin films due to fast evaporation of the solvent.

Konsentrasi logam Hg yang tinggi di lingkungan akuatik dapat menyebabkan meningkatnya toksisitas dalam ekosistem air. Oleh karena itu, penentuan distribusi konsentrasi logam berat merkuri (Hg) perlu dilakukan. Salah satu metode efektif yang saat ini digunakan dalam penentuan Hg di lingkungan akuatik adalah menggunakan teknik Diffusive Gradient in Thin Films (DGT). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membuat dan mengaplikasikan teknik Diffusive Gradient in Thin Film pada kajian logam labil merkuri (Hg) dari lingkungan perairan. Teknik ini merupakan metode passive sampling yang dapat mengakumulasi spesi labil merkuri (Hg) yang berada di lingkungan akuatik. Perangkat DGT terdiri dari bahan plastik berbentuk bulat dengan diameter 2,5 cm yang dapat diisi dengan gel lapisan pengkelat logam, gel poliakrilamida sebagai gel lapisan difusi, serta membran filter 0,45 µm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan jumlah massa logam merkuri yang terikat pada gel lapisan pengikat logam Hg pada variasi waktu kontak. Sementara hasil pengujian dengan variasi ketebalan gel lapisan difusi tidak menghasilkan perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap pengukuran massa Hg yang terikat pada binding gel Aplikasi metode DGT pada penetapan konsentrasi logam merkuri dalam perairan Teluk Palu terukur pada kisaran 3,502 - 3,507 µg/L.

Abstract: Scraped surface heat exchangers are well established heating and cooling system for viscous and sticky products. Generally thin film has Scraped surface heat exchanger has short residence time compared to other heat exchangers which may be sometimes difficult to compute. In this study, a simple method for residence time distribution measurement was carried out using image analysis. Pulse input injection method was used to inoculate the tracer dye and colourimetric analysis of milk at SSHE outlet done by program developed in Scilab software. Mean residence time distribution for scraped surface heat exchanger was 41.46 s at 120 rpm scraper speed, 294 kPa steam pressure and 450 l/h milk feed rate. Determined RTD is helpful in context with thermal processing of milk in SSHE.

Technologies for synthesizing thin films and nanostructured coatings have been under steady development at least since 1950s. Thin film technologies have been a source of intense interest in a variety of industrial applications still today. Basically, a thin film is a layer of material deposited on a substrate in which the thickness typically ranging from nanometer to several micrometers (Granqvist, 2012). Accordingly, thin film features mostly come from its thickness deposited on the substrate. These thin films used to manipulate and improve the physical properties of various substrates by employing the properties of the selective coating materials on the substrate surface.
