A ray of hope for the hopeless
Hopelessness grips far too many people. What is the solution? What will break the shackles and open the way to a better life and hope for the hopeless? The newly established non-profit organisation in Damonsville, HOPE, under the leadership of Christina Matjila, has since its recent launch been a ray of hope for the homeless and underprivileged children in the community. Christina and her team worked tirelessly to get donations to make this winter a little warmer for those in need.
“Our aim was to help, but with the overwhelming support from the Brits community, we are currently giving warm clothes and blankets to more than 200 children and homeless people,”

Taking the electro mobility era by storm
BRITS POS – ROSSLYN - BMW South Africa is going electric and this means that they will be investing R4.2 billion over five years to prepare its manufacturing plant in Rosslyn, east of Brits for the electro mobility era.
The next generation BMW X3 will be produced at Plant Rosslyn from the second half of 2024 and “will come as a plug-in
hybrid” and will be the first BMW electric model produced in South Africa with internal combustion engine derivatives of the vehicle.
This investment will secure the future of BMW Group Plant Rosslyn and the livelihoods of more than 20 000 people directly and indirectly employed at BMW Group SA’s facilities and within its supply chain. Commitment BMW will be electrifying their local operations as part of future proofing Plant Rosslyn as the European markets are going electric. Since we believe in that, we gone and done it. BRITS POS – KGABALATSANE - A female cashier (33) was inside the store when she heard a loud banging noise at the front door and four baclava wearing males were breaking the door open and entered a convenience store at the BP Garage in Kgabalatsane on Tuesday, 27 June around 01:40.
One of the thugs held her at gunpoint and ordered her to open the door that leads to the cashier box while another suspect raided the shelves of cigarettes and the third suspect emptied the cash register. The victim alleges that she kept quiet until she couldn’t hear any footsteps and notified police. The suspects left with an unknown amount of cash and cigarettes. “We can confirm that a case of business robbery was registered at Hebron Police Station,” says SAPS Brits spokesperson, Const Ben Moabi, “and the suspects are still at large.”

Carjacking in Mothotlung
BRITS POS – MOTHOTLUNG - A motorist (58) was on his way home to Mothotlung via Brits Road on Monday, 26 June around 18:45 in his white Suzuki Swift, when he stopped to relieve himself when and two men approached him and one held him at gunpoint.
He was told to get into his car and the suspect driver headed in the direction of Ga-Rankuwa while the other suspect body-searched the victim, took his cellphone, bank cards and demanded his pin numbers. The victim was dropped off in the area of Winterveld where he searched for help to report it to the police. “A case of carjacking was opened at Mothutlung police station and the suspects are still at large,” says SAPS Brits spokesperson, Const Ben Moabi. Another master-planned truckjacking
BRITS POS – BRITS - A male employee (40) at a towing service in Kempton Park was driving a Nissan truck on the Vametco Mine gravel road, to collect a Tractor-Loader-Backhoe (TLB) in Pendoring Street, Brits.
Upon arrival at the Alpha Crossing, just south of Brits, he picked up a man, as arranged, who gave him directions to the premises, but the driver was then told that they had to collect another person, which they did, but within minutes the driver was held at gunpoint and instructed into another direction where the suspects took all his belongings and fled with the truck. Luckily the victim managed to untie
himself and went to seek help. A case of truckjacking was opened at Brits police station. “At this stage the suspects are still at large and anyone with information about the incident can contact the Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Michael Khoza of Rustenburg Vehicle Crimes Investigation Unit on 082 856 1608,” requests SAPS Brits spokesperson, Const Ben Moabi.
BRITS POS – MOOINOOI - Two security guards were on duty at the Mooinooi Truck Shop in Mooinooi on Wednesday, 28 June and around 02:00, sitting at the TV room, four males suddenly appeared.
One held them at gun point and the victims were body searched and their cellphones were taken. The victims were then led in to the TV room where their hands were tied up behind their backs with shoelaces. The suspects took a 32-inch plasma TV set and left. One of the victims managed to get the assistance of a woman and she untied them. When they went to inspect the premises, they found the padlock of the office door was cut to gain entry. The safe was broken into and the suspects took an unknown amount of cash. No one was injured. “We can confirm that a case of Business Robbery was opened at Mooinooi police station,” says Const Ben Moabi, spokesperson for SAPS Brits,

gunpoint at Truck Shop Khothalo Primary School hit by robbers
BRITS POS – MABOLOKA - On Wednesday, 28 June around 02:00 five unknown suspects, one armed, broke into the premises of Khothalo Primary School, Bataung Section, Maboloka.
The caretaker was asleep inside a room at the premises when he heard his dog barking. He went outside and untied his dog to investigate and then went back to sleep.
The dog barked again and the victim heard a shot being fired. Suddenly the door to his room was kicked down and through a broken window pane, a male held him at gunpoint, but he rushed to the other window where another man was standing, but the victim opened the window and escaped with three shots being fired at him and the victim reached the nearby house of a member of the school’s governing body.
They stood in the dark while watching the movement of suspects with a torch light at the school. Then a black car appeared, picked up the suspects and sped off. When they went to the school, they found that the caretaker’s phone and torchlight were taken and the suspects also broke into the principal’s office.
They summoned SAPS Letlhabile to the school, but couldn’t establish what had been taken. They called the school principal who advised that she would be there in the morning. It was then confirmed that the office burglar door, the door and the strong room were damaged, but nothing was taken from the principal’s office or strongroom.
A case of business robbery was opened at Letlhabile police station.

BRITS POS – HARTBEESPOORT - Hartbeespoortdam police received a complaint from a local doctor in Hartbeespoort of a deceased male at the Medical Centre, Schoemansville on Thursday, 29 June around 13:30.
Upon arrival by the members, they were shown the naked body of a deceased 9-year-old boy with multiple bruises. It is alleged that the doctor told the members that the boy’s father (42) brought him there, but that the boy was already deceased.
When the doctor enquired about the father to convey the message, she was told that he had left and was heading towards the Total garage opposite the centre. A police captain who was on leave was contacted by the physician and happened to be in the vicinity of the clinic and found and arrested the father.
It is alleged that the father assaulted the boy for committing theft the night before. A murder case was opened at the Hartbeespoort police station.
“The suspect, Fifeanyi Ogumere (42), who is the stepfather of the deceased was arrested on Tuesday, 29 June and appeared at Brits Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 4 July and the case was postponed to Tuesday, 11 July for a bail application,” says SAPS Brits spokesperson, Const Ben Maobi.

Stepfather allegedly

BRITS POS – BRITS – Fana Mnguni, aka “DJ M-Nash Ma Ten Ten” from Madibeng FM Radio fights against alcohol, drugs and abuse in and around the Madibeng community.
During one of his radio station shows, he came to the conclusion to start an organisation fighting drug and alcohol abuse in the community and opened the doors of an organisation fighting drug abuse and alcohol in the community.
“The center will also assist in rehabilitation,” say Mnguni and children who become victims because of parents’ who are addicted to alcohol and drugs.
“The Madibeng Breakthrough Centre (MB Centre) in Oukasie, Phase 1 is there to assist our community.”
The centre is open to the public and anyone who has challenges with anyone of the above, can call 061 270 8645 for an appointment.

My fellow South Africans,
Let me start this morning by expressing my absolute condemnation of the violent attack on motorists by members of the ANC’s VIP protection force. Many of us have seen the horrific video by now, showing a gang of heavily armed men assaulting helpless citizens.
Let’s be clear about one thing. What we see in that video, represents exactly what the ANC really thinks of the people of South Africa.
We - all the people of South Africa - are the ones down on the ground. And the ANC are the thugs masquerading as a government, stomping on our neck.

From Andries Tatane to Marikana, this is not the first time we have seen murderous abuse of power by the ANC’s
security forces directed at ordinary citizens.
This is no accident. The ANC spends R1.7 billion of taxpayer money to maintain this VIP unit as their own personal army. As long as the ANC is in power, they will keep stomping on us.
That is why the topic of my address this morning is so important. Because the Moonshot Pact to form a strong, united opposition provides a way for us to break free from the abuse our country suffers at the hands of the ANC.
Like many of you, and indeed like many other opposition leaders, I came to the
conclusion that forming a united opposition Pact ahead of the 2024 election offers us the very best chance to unseat the ANC, keep the EFF out of power, and form a stable new government to rescue South Africa.
This Moonshot Pact would bring together different parties – excluding the ANC, EFF and their proxies – to ensure that the opposition focuses our collective energies on defeating the ANC, rather than on attacking each other.
I said at the time that this is the single most important project for any opposition leader who wants to create a better future for our country. And I said that I would keep you updated as the process unfolds.
Today, I can provide encouraging feedback.
Through hours of open, honest and respectful discussion, seven parties have established sufficient common ground to hold a National Convention for the Moonshot Pact.
These parties are the DA, IFP, Freedom Front Plus, ActionSA, United Independent Movement and the Spectrum National Party.
The Convention will take place on 16 and 17 August at the same venue that hosted the CODESA negotiations.

Die departement het versuim om te voldoen aan ʼn 2017-Grondwethofbevel om wysigings aan die wet aan te bring, wat reeds teen Junie 2019 gedoen moes wees.
Op navraag van hoofregter Raymond Zondo oor die aangeleentheid, het die minister die skuld gepak op die optrede van amptenare.
Volgens Motsoaledi is hy nooit ingelig het dat hy persoonlik aanspreeklik was om seker te maak dat die opdrag uitgevoer word of om toe te sien dat uitstel gevra word om die wysigings aan te bring nie.
Hy voer ook aan dat die regsadviseurs van die departement ʼn duidelike opdrag om hom
op hoogte van sake te hou, nie nagekom het nie.Die departement plaas weer die blaam op die 2019-algemene verkiesing, die Covid- 19-pandemie in 2020 en die brand in die parlementsgebou as rede waarom nie aan die gestelde tydlyn voldoen is nie.
Dit hou geen water nie. Beide die pandemie en die brandskade aan die parlementsgebou het plaasgevind nadat die Junie 2019-tydlyn reeds verstryk het.
Die hof sal nou moet besluit hoe die regte van aangehoudenes beskerm sal word tot tyd en wyl die departement die immigrasiewetgewing gefinaliseer het.
Artikel 92 van die Suid-Afrikaanse Grondwet bepaal uitdruklik dat ministers verantwoordelik en verantwoordbaar is vir die magte en funksies wat ampshalwe aan hul toegeken is. Kabinetsministers is verder verantwoordbaar aan die parlement.
Die VF Plus sal ʼn persoonlike kostebevel teen min. Motsoaledi en die direkteur- generaal van binnelandse sake, Livhuwani Makhode, verwelkom.
Die minister is duidelik nie in staat om die departement te bestuur of verantwoordbaar te hou nie. Die volgehoue agteruitgang van dienslewering in die departement beklemtoon die noodsaak om die ANC- regering in 2024 te vervang met ʼn nuwe veelparty-koalisieregering.

Die uitkoms van die proses is in die vorm van ʼn ooreenkoms wat tussen Solidariteit en die regering vasgemaak is en wat deur Flip Buys, voorsitter van die Solidariteit Beweging, en minister TW Nxesi, die minister van arbeid en indiensneming, onderteken is.
Die ooreenkoms gaan nou as deel van die 2023-diensbillikheidsregulasies in die Staatskoerant gepubliseer word en die partye het ooreengekom dat dit ʼn hofbevel gemaak word. Maatskappye sal dus verplig wees om dit te implementeer. Verdere punte in die ooreenkoms bepaal daar mag geen absolute plafonne vir indiensneming of bevordering vir enige groep wees nie, en die inherente vereistes van ʼn pos kan in ag geneem word vir aanstelling en bevordering. Maatskappye kan ook hul ekonomiese posisie, personeelomset en vaardigheidstekorte as verweer aanvoer oor waarom hulle nie teikens bereik nie. Indien ʼn maatskappy ʼn redelike verweer aanvoer, sal daardie maatskappy nie boetes opgelê word of staatskontrakte verbeur nie. Die bemiddelingsproses het begin ná ʼn klag wat Solidariteit by die IAO teen die regering gelê het oor die rigiede toepassing van regstellende aksie in Suid-Afrika. Solidariteit het aangevoer dat Suid-Afrika konvensie 111 van die IAO oortree wat onder meer bepaal dat regstellende maatreëls buigbaar moet wees.
Die IAO het destyds bevind dat Solidariteit se klag ontvanklik is. Dit beteken die klag voldoen aan al die IAO se tegniese vereistes, dat dit op sig waarde meriete
het en dat Solidariteit interne remedies uitgeput het. Die Solidariteit-klag het dus tot ʼn verhoorproses oorgegaan en die eerste stap het vrywillige bemiddeling tussen die partye behels.
Die spanning tussen die gemeenskap en die regering het verhoog nadat die regering onlangs rasregulasies gepubliseer het wat verreikende gevolge vir minderhede kon inhou. In reaksie daarop het 29 organisasies ʼn gesamentlike resolusie onderteken wat die druk op die regering verhoog het. Die ooreenkoms wat sedertdien bereik is, is beslis beïnvloed deur die krag van ʼn gemeenskap wat saamstaan.
Hierdie ooreenkoms beteken die einde van die gebruik van ras as enigste maatstaf vir indiensneming en bevordering. Dit verwyder ook die swaard van aflegging wat oor die kop van minderhede gehang het, en dit beteken ook dat maatskappye nie meer onder dwang sal wees om aanstellings te moet maak wat nie aan hul spesifieke vaardigheidsbehoeftes voldoen nie.
Dit is die ontknoping van die IAO-dispuut oor buigsaamheid, maar dit is egter nie die einde van rasprogramme in Suid-Afrika nie. Dit is ʼn belangrike deurbraak en ʼn groot oorwinning op die strategiese slagveld, maar die oorlog is nog nie verby nie. ʼn Stryd wat nog voorlê is om Eskom ter wille van almal in Suid- Afrika vry te kry van swart ekonomiese bemagtigingsreëls wat ʼn rookskerm vir plundering geword het.

After Brits Pos received numerous complaints from residents in Elandsrand about the illegal dumping and burning of waste in the residential areas, it was reported to Madibeng municipality and the spokesperson, Tumelo Tshabalala, responded: “Illegal dumping in the municipal area is a widespread problem and also occurring in other areas such as Oukasie, Letlhabile, Damonsville and Mothotlung,”
Tshabalala said. “This is despite the fact that Madibeng municipality has fully operational waste transfer stations in many areas within the jurisdiction to help deal with broader waste management services. We wish to appeal to people to make use of such available facilities and refrain from acts of illegal dumping. Een persoon is Sondag, 2 Julie ernstig in ‘n motorfietsongeluk by die R512 Leloko-afrit op Pampoennek beseer.
HEMS se paramedici was op die toneel en het die beseerde persoon gestabiliseer en per noodhelikopter na ‘n hospitaal in Johannesburg afgevoer.
Die oorsaak van die ongeluk is onbekend.
Geen ander voertuig was betrokke nie.

BRITS POS – BRITS – Die talentvolle danser, Kayleigh Jansen (11) het tydens die Dance Association Nationwide for Communication and Education (DANCE)-
kompetisie uitstekend in haar onderskeie items presteer.
Dié kompetisie is van 12 tot 17 Junie by die Lewende Woord in Centurion gehou en honderde dansers, van reg oor die land, het in 1 137 items deelgeneem.
Kayleigh, ‘n leerling van Laerskool Olienpark en danser van Glitter Global Dance Studio in Hartbeespoort, het die oog van die Amerikaanse beoordelaar, Scott Sisbarro, gevang en hy het met lof van Kayleigh se onderskeie optredes gepraat.
Sy het in drie solo items, een duet en in drie groep-items deelgeneem. Ná afloop van die kompetisie het sy ‘n algehele 2de en 3de plek in haar solo-items en ‘n algehele 2de plek in haar duet verwerf.
Haar uitslae is as volg: Showdance solo: algehele 3de plek, ‘n Ultimate Gold-toekenning asook ‘n Special Award (vir haar Explosive Performance).
Kontemporêre solo: algehele 2de plek en ‘n Ultimate Gold-toekenning.
