Vicky Fadliansah Sihombing.
Evaluasi sifat fisis dan sifat mekanis dilakukan berdasarkan japanese industrial standard (JIS) A 5905-2003 hardboard S20 dan JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type.

Vicky Fadliansah Sihombing. The Durability of Fiber–Plastic Composite Made of Corrugated Paper and Polyethylene (PE) with Maleic Anhydride (MAH) and Benzoyl Peroxide (BP) toward The Weather . Supervised by Luthfi Hakim and Ridwanti Batubara
ABSTRACT
The main objective of this research was to evaluate physical properties (density, moisture content, water absorbtion, thickness swelling) and mechanical properties (modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture) fiber plastic composite (FPC) after exposed to weather for 6 months. In this study, there were 6 treatments consisting of two factors, namely the ratio of FPC materials (corrugated paper fibers and polyethylene) which consists of 3 levels ie 50:50, 60:40 and 70:30 and the additional factor of maleic anhydride (MAH), which consists of two levels, namely 5% and 7%. Evaluation the physical and mechanical properties the composite board were according to japanese industrial standard (JIS) A 5905-2003 hardboard S20 and JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type 13. The results showed that after exposure to the weather for 6 months, physical properties the fiber plastic composite board did not fulfill the standard of JIS A 5905-2003 hardboard S20 and JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type 13, except density, the ranged were 0,81-0,93 g/cm3, water absorbtion ranged were 0,03 – 1,76% and thickness swelling were 0,86 – 6.18%. The testing of mechanical properties did not meet to the standar. From the data analysis, the value of a significant effect just in density and modulus of elasticity after exposed for 6 months.
Keywords : fiber plastic composite, physiscal and mechanical properties, durability toward the weather.
