Do you know how change sentence from direct to indirect speech? Pre-requisite knowledge

What is indirect speech?

What is the difference of direct and indirect speech? 2. WHILST ACTIVITY

a. Presentation (30 minutes)

Teacher presents the material of reported speech Teacher gives examples of direct and indirect speech

Teacher asks students to identify sentence either direct or indirect speech Teacher elaborates the difference of direct and indirect speech

b. Teams (40 minutes)

Teacher divides students into teams; each consists of 4 to 5 students with different competency, gender, race and ethnic.

Assigning teams:

 First, teachers make students’ ranking list.

 Then, teacher arranges the students’ ranking in three categories; high, middle, and low

 After that, teacher determines the member of a team. Based on the ranking list, teacher signs students with letter (team A, B, C and so on)  When students have equally divided into teams, they are allowed to

name their team, make a yell, etc.

Every team gets a worksheet to do together

Teacher explains that each member of team must learn and understand the material together

Teacher explains that individual’s effort will affect to the team, so that they have to realize their important role in team’s success

Students are encouraged to responsible to their teammate in achieving the material equally, for they will get individual quiz

Teacher ensures students collaborate well Teacher visits each team to check their working

Direct speech (kalimat langsung) adalah kalimat yang langsung di ucapkan dari pembicaranya.

He said, “I am very happy today.”

Indirect speech (kalimat tidak langsung) adalah kalimat di ceritakan dengan cara lain tanpa merubah arti.

Example: She said that she was beautiful.

BANTA BERENSYAH

In a small village of Nanggroe Aceh Darrusallam, there was a poor young fatherless child named Banta Berensyah. Banta was a diligent and a kind boy.

One day, The king is going to marry his daughter putri terus mata. Putri terus mata would marry a man who able to brought her a gown made of gold. Banta was interested to join the contest.

After that, Banta prayed to god for helping him. Then he got a hint, he needed to bring a sheet of taro leaf and his flute. He used the taro leaf to be his boat to sail across the sea.

After several days sailing, he finally found an island. This island is full of weavers. Here, he came to one home to home to ask if probably one of the weaver had a golden cloth. But he could find it.

In desperate, he arrived at the last house. “If you have a golden cloth, i want to buy it.” Banta said.

The waever replied, “i have one, but it is very expensive. How can you pay it?” banta said, “i do not have money sir, but i will play this flute as payment.” The weaver said, “You have a strong will to have this golden cloth.”

As he finished playing his flute, the weaver he decided to give the golden cloth to Banta. “i am impressed. I will give you this cloth as a reward,” The weaver said.

Unfortunately, when he was in the open sea, he met Jakub. Banta was lifted up to the ship. Then, Jakup took the cloth. Banta would like to hold the cloth, he begged, “please don’t take my golden cloth! I need it,” But Jakub didn’t care about it and he threw Banta out to the sea.

CURRICULUM VITAE

His full name is Ahmad Saiful Anam. He was born in Jepara on july 4th, 1988. A son of a couple of teachers; Slamet Al Hasan and Sa’diyah. The parents who taught him to have a simple and free life.

As he was a child, his parents brought him to study at SDN 1 Purwogondo. He graduated in 2000, his accomplishment was quite good at that time. He continued his study at SMP Muhammadiyah Purwogondo and graduated in 2003. The next three years he spent at SMA Muhammadiyah Kudus. In 2008, he decided to continue his study at Muria Kudus University. He chose English Education Department since he had dream to be a teacher, an English teacher.

He starts to love English in Junior high school when he met Mr. Muji who taught him that English was easy and fun. From his hobby to listen to the western songs and to watch hollywood movies, his started to have interest towards English. As he was in senior high school he was a reserved student for being far from home. However, he turned to be an active student when he was in the University of Muria Kudus. He had ever joined in several organisations. One of them that he loves most is teater.
