-Kedua Presiden menekankan sekal i lagi ketaatan mereka kepada tudjuan-tudjuan dan dasar-dasar dari Piagam Perserikatan Bangsa- Bangsa dan teristimewa mengenai hak. bangsa-bangsa untuk menentukan nasib sendiri dan kemerdekaan.
Kedua Presiden mentjatat ,dengan kepuasan dan kebanggaan sebagai kawan
seperdjoangan, bahwa mereka berpidjak: pada dasar-dasar jang sama dalam banjak: masalab.-masalah jang asa.ai dari keadaan internasional dewasa ini , dan chusus-nja mengenai masalah-masalah nasionalnj1a masing-.masing tentang persoalan ke-satuan , kemadjuan, kesedjahteraan nasional dan kebahagian ra.kjat mereka.
Dalam menindjau hasil dari poli tik luar negeri mereka, poli tik tiada memihak dan poli tik be bas dan aktif ad.alah poli tik j,ang dapat membe.la dan mem-perkembang kemerdekaan nasional jang sedjati dan kewibawaan nasional. ereka mentjata.t dengan gembira ba.hwa sikap mereka dalam poli tik luar negeri adalah dan akan tetap merupakan sumbangan posi tif pad.a perdamaian.
Mereka menjambut baik awal kemadjuan jang tela.h tertjapai mengenai :perlutjutan aendjata dan :penghapusan sendjata- sendjata nuklir serta pertjoba-annja dan mengharap , bahwa perundingan-perundin.gan selandjutnj a akan menudju
kearah per.setudjuan bulat ja.ng akan memuaskan hasrat j ang mendalam dari ummat
ma.nusia. semesta untuk perdama.ia.n dunia dan keamanan.
Sedjiwa dengan ini kedua Presiden mentjela perledakan bom atom di Afrika oleh Perantj1is dan menun.tut penghentian segera dari pertjobaan- pertjo-baan tersebut jang membahajakan penghidupan dari rak:jat banjak dari benua Afrika. Mereka menjetudjui , bahwa penjelidikan _ segera hendaknja dilakukan u.ntuk menentuka.n ke:r:usakan ja.ng telah diakibatkan oleh peledakan- peledakan bom atom tersebut .
Mereka menjambut baik pertemuan-pertemuan baru- baru ini antara
pemi.mpin-pemimpin dari banjak: negara, demikian djuga persetudjuan antara pemim-1
halama.n t i ga
-jang sungguh-sungguh untuk berhasilnja pertemuan tersebut dan tekad dari
pemerintah-pemerinta.h mereka untult memberi sokongan penuh kepada t ia.p sum-bangan j ang a.kan membawa kepada perdamaian dunia dan keamanan .
Kedua Preaiden menganggap sejogjanja pertemuan-pertemuan pu.ntja.k
kelak
hendaknjamentjs.k:up pandangan-pandangan
dan kepentingan-kepentingandari rakjat-rakjat Asia ,dan Afrika jang merupakan sjarat jang diperlukan dalam usaha-usaha penjele .saian jang murni untuk: ment japa.i perdamaian abadi .
Kedua. Presiden menjatakan sokongan j ang penuh kepada perdjoangan ke-merdekaan dari bangsa-bangsa Asia dan Afrika ja.ng masih belum me r deka, untuk kebebasan, menentukan nasib diri sendiri dan kemerdekaan . Mereka menjatakan kemasgulan ja.ng sungguh-sungguh mengenai berlandju tnj.a peperangan di Aldjazair, sekalipun ada keputusan-keputusa.n dari Perserikatan :Bangs.a- .Bangsa jang mendesak supaja dimulai perundingan-perundingan ant ara Aldjazai.r dan Ferantjis , dan me-njetudjui supaja segenap usaha di tjurahkan unt ulc mentjapai suatu penje l esai an mengenai masalah Aldjaz,air , jang akan mengakui hak dari ra.kjat Aldjazai r untu.k: menentukan diri aendiri dan kemerdekaan .
Kedua Presiden menjetudj1ui kenjataan bahwa perdjoangan untuk
kemerde-ks.an dari bangsa-bangsa Asia dan Afrika
hendaknjadjangan dihentilcan sebelum
penghapusan lru.bu-kubu terachir d ari kekuasaan kolonial . Sedj i wa denga.n in i masa1ah lrian Barat hendaknja dise l esaikan dengan perundingan set,jara damai , dan sedjalan dengan dasar-dasar dari piagam Perserik:atan :Bangsa-:Bangsa. Dalam hubungan
ini ,
kedua Presiden mentjela dengan keraa keputusan pemerintah ::Se landa u n tuk mengirimkan kapal- kapal perang keperairan Indonesia dan pe nambahanbailie-antuan dan persendjataan di Iri an Earat. Mereka menjatakan. , b ahwa tindakan jang t i d ak bidjaksana i tu jang hanja memperuntjing ketegangan a1 tara Indones i a
dan 13elanda tidak akan memberi manfaat kepada siapapun, dan bagaimanapun d juga hal i tu bukan tanggung-dj awab dari Republik Indonesia..
Kedua Presiden menjatak:an kemasgulan jang mendalam mengenai pol i t ik

-d i skrimi nas i ra.sial jan ti-dak mengenal batas jang -di-djalanka.n oleh pemeri ntah Uni Afrika Selatan, dan menghukum perbuatan penindasan kedjam, jang mengaki -batkan banjak: korban djiwa ant ara penduduk bang,sa Afrika.
Kedua Presiden mempertimbangk.an setja.ra terperintji dan dari pelbagai segi kenjataan-kenjataa.n dan kemun inan-kemungkinan mengenai perkembangan ekonomi dan kemadjuan sosia.1 dineger · -negeri jang baru. sedang berkembang ; dan mereka menjatakan sekal i lagi kepertjajaannja, bahwa adal a.h suatu keha-rusan untuk perdamaia.n dan kesedjahteraan wnmat manusia, bahwa usah usaha. kearah tersebut h endaknja diperl ' a.tgandakan dan selandjutnja d iorgani sir dan

paid a visit to Tunisia. from . pril 29 to Jay 2, 1960 .

They reaffirmed the adheren.ce of their Governments to the principles
which were unanimously adopted at Bandung U1
1955 by
the Conference of the Asian and African States , and also discussed ways and means of further developing thesubstance of the friendly relations which exist between their
twocountries
inthe economic and cultural sphere.
The two Presidents reasserted their adherence to the objectives and
principles of the United Nations Charter and
particularly to the right
ofpeoples to self-det,ermina tion and independence .
The two Presidents note·d with s.atisfaotion and pride that they stand as Comrades- in-Arms· on the same principles on many fundamental problems of
the present international situation a.nd especially

respective n tional affairs
on the \ uestion of
unity, progress , social welfare,and prosperity for their peoples.
In reviewing the re.sult of their respective oreign policy,
non-alignment and active independent fJoreign policy serves to protect and
devel·op their real
nationalindependence
andnational
dignity . Theynoted
with pleasure that their attitude in foreign affairs was and ·11 continue to be a positive contribution to peace .

improve-ment in the newly developing countries; and they gave new expression to their belief

is imperative for the peace and welfare of humanity that effortsin this direction shoul1d be red.oubled and further organized and should be directed more efficiently to the setti g up of a progressive and independent world communit,y

mutually beneficial trade relations and have a.greed that in the near future
negotiations will be held in order to conclude a trade agreement between the two
