Saat ini Indonesia tengah menghadapi masalah gizi ganda. Selain gizi kurang,

secara bersamaan Indonesia juga mulai menghadapi masalah gizi lebih dengan

kecenderungan yang semakin meningkat dari waktu ke waktu. Dari Survei

Kesehatan Rumah Tangga (SKRT) 2004 diketahui bahwa gizi baik pada anak usia

sekolah dan remaja umur 5 – 17 tahun sebesar 74%, dengan gizi kurang 18% dan

gizi lebih sebesar 8%. Prevalensi gizi kurang paling tinggi pada anak usia sekolah

dasar yaitu 21%. Prevalensi gizi lebih cukup tinggi pada kelompok umur 5 – 15

tahun.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran status gizi pada

anak usia 6-12 tahun di SD Sukasari I Bandung, sehingga dapat dilakukan

tindakan selanjutnya apabila ditemukan masalah gizi yang sekiranya

membutuhkan intervensi oleh pihak yang berkaitan.

Penelitian ini bersifat survei deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara

whole sample

. Jumlah sampel yang didapat adalah 132, dengan kriteria sampel

yaitu anak yang berusia 6 – 12 tahun. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode

antropometri. Analisis hasil penelitian menggunakan standar deviasi unit / Z-skor

WHO/NCHS dengan indeks BB/U, TB/U, dan BB/TB, kemudian ditentukan

status gizinya. Penelitian dilakukan di SD Sukasari I Bandung pada bulan Mei

2007 – Januari 2008.

Dari hasil penelitian, sebagian besar anak usia 6 – 12 tahun di SD Sukasari I

Bandung memiliki status gizi baik (68,18%). Gizi kurang (25%) masih lebih

banyak dari gizi lebih (3,79%). Sedangkan gizi buruk jumlahnya sedikit (3,03%)

namun harus diwaspadai. Prevalensi

underweight, stunting, wasting

adalah

18,18%, 10,61%, 15,15%.

Nowadays, Indonesia have a complex nutritional problem. In one side, there is

undernutrition problem and the other side there is overnutrition problem, which

tends to increase from time to time. Survei Kesehatan Rumah Tangga (SKRT)

2004 found prevalence of good nutrition in school children and teenagers aged 5

– 17 years is 74%, with malnutrition reach 18% and overnutrition 8%. The

highest prevalence of undernutrition is in primary school which is 21%. There is

high prevalence of overnutrition at group aged 5 – 15 years.

The aim of this research is to know the nutritional status on children aged 6-12

years at Sukasari I Elementary School in Bandung, so that we can take actions if

there is a nutrition problem found.

This research is a descriptive survey. Data collection was done from the whole

sample. The total accumulated sample was 132 children aged 6-12 years old.

Data gathering was done by using anthropometry method. Analysis on research

result uses standard deviation unit / Z-Score WHO/NCHS with index BB/U, TB/U,

and BB/TB, then classified into the nutritional status of children. Research was

done at Sukasari I Elementary School Bandung on May 2007 - January 2008.

From this research was found that most children aged 6 – 12 years at Sukasari

I Elementary School Bandung have good nutrition status (68,18%).

Undernutrition (25%) is still higher than overnutrition (3,79%). However, there is

a little bad nutrition found (3,03%), but we must take precaution. The prevalence

of underweight, stunting, and wasting is 18,18%, 10,61%, and 15,15%.

Pada tahun 2006, tingkat kemiskinan di Indonesia masih mencapai 17,8 persen

yang berarti sekitar 40 juta jiwa masih berada di bawah garis kemiskinan. Salah

satu akibat kemiskinan adalah ketidakmampuan rumah tangga untuk memenuhi

kebutuhan pangan dalam jumlah dan kualitas yang baik, hal ini berakibat pada

kekurangan gizi, baik zat gizi makro maupun mikro. Saat ini diperkirakan sekitar

50 persen penduduk Indonesia atau lebih dari 100 juta jiwa mengalami beraneka

masalah kekurangan gizi, yaitu gizi kurang dan gizi lebih. Masalah gizi kurang

sering luput dari penglihatan atau pengamatan biasa dan seringkali tidak cepat

ditanggulangi, padahal dapat memunculkan masalah besar. Selain gizi kurang,

secara bersamaan Indonesia juga mulai menghadapi masalah gizi lebih dengan

kecenderungan yang semakin meningkat dari waktu ke waktu. Dengan kata lain

saat ini Indonesia tengah menghadapi masalah gizi ganda (BPPN, 2007).

Dari Survei Kesehatan Rumah Tangga (SKRT) 2004 diketahui bahwa gizi baik

pada anak usia sekolah dan remaja umur 5 – 17 tahun sebesar 74%, dengan gizi

kurang 18% dan gizi lebih sebesar 8%. Prevalensi gizi kurang paling tinggi pada

anak usia sekolah dasar yaitu 21%. Prevalensi gizi lebih cukup tinggi pada

kelompok umur 5 – 15 tahun.

Penelitian di sebuah SD Negeri di Medan tahun 2000 menyebutkan

berdasarkan berat badan terdapat 62,5% anak yang mengalami gizi kurang

(Posman Sibuea, 2001).

Gizi kurang pada anak usia sekolah dapat bermanifestasi pada gangguan

pertumbuhan. Hasil Survei Tinggi Badan Anak Baru masuk Sekolah (TB-ABS) di

lima propinsi (Jawa Barat, Jawa Tengah, NTT, Maluku dan Irian Jaya) pada tahun

1994 dan tahun 1998 menunjukkan prevalensi gangguan pertumbuhan anak usia

pertumbuhan ini masih tinggi. Mereka juga mengalami gangguan kecerdasan, dan

mengakibatkan potensi putus sekolah juga menjadi tinggi. Pada usia dewasa, dia

tidak produktif sehingga akhirnya hanya akan menjadi beban bagi keluarganya

dan juga perekonomian (Sri Hartati Samhadi, 2006).

Kekurangan gizi pada anak usia sekolah dapat menghambat pertumbuhan dan

perkembangan anak serta menurunkan kecerdasan intelektual. Anak yang

menderita kurang gizi parah mempunyai rata-rata IQ 11 poin lebih rendah

dibandingkan rata-rata anak-anak yang tidak kekurangan gizi (UNICEF, 1998).

Di samping masalah kekurangan gizi, penelitian Fakultas Kedokteran

Universitas Indonesia (FKUI), Jakarta, pada tahun 2000, tentang kegemukan pada

anak-anak, yang dilakukan terhadap 254 anak SD di Ibukota dengan usia 6-12

tahun, menyimpulkan, sebanyak 27,5 persen anak-anak usia SD mengalami

obesitas.

Data tentang gambaran status gizi pada anak-anak usia sekolah di Indonesia

masih sedikit diketahui. Oleh karena itu melalui penelitian ini, peneliti bermaksud

mengetahui gambaran status gizi pada anak usia 6-12 tahun di SD Sukasari I

Bandung karena lokasinya yang berada di sekitar kampus Universitas Kristen

Maranatha sehingga peneliti ingin mengetahui prevalensi gizi buruk, gizi kurang

dan gizi lebih di sekolah tersebut. Dan berdasarkan pengamatan peneliti

siswa-siswi SD tersebut rata-rata berasal dari keluarga ekonomi menengah ke bawah

yang dikuatirkan banyak terdapat anak usia sekolah yang mengalami gizi kurang.

1.2. Identifikasi Masalah

Bagaimana gambaran status gizi anak usia 6-12 tahun di SD Sukasari I

Bandung periode 2006 – 2007 berdasarkan prevalensi dan proporsi status

gizi terbanyak.

Bagaimana proporsi gizi kurang dibandingkan dengan gizi lebih.

1.3.Maksud dan Tujuan

Maksud dari penulisan karya tulis ilmiah ini adalah mengetahui gambaran

status gizi anak usia sekolah di Indonesia khususnya di Bandung pada periode

2006-2007.

Tujuannya adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran status gizi pada anak usia 6-12

tahun di SD Sukasari I Bandung, sehingga dapat dilakukan tindakan selanjutnya

apabila ditemukan masalah gizi yang sekiranya membutuhkan intervensi oleh

pihak yang berkaitan.

1.4.Manfaat Karya Tulis Ilmiah

Kegunaan Akademis: Untuk menambah pengetahuan kita tentang gizi kurang.

Untuk menjadi masukan bagi pihak yang bersangkutan

dalam upaya pencegahan dan perbaikan gizi di Indonesia

khususnya di Bandung.

Kegunaan Praktis:

Sebagai masukan untuk sekolah dalam meningkatkan

usaha kesehatan di sekolah dan meningkatkan sadar gizi.

1.5.Metode Penelitian

Penelitian bersifat survei deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data dilakukan secara

whole sample. Kriteria sampel adalah anak yang berusia 6 – 12 tahun di SD
