TATE revenues in the mining sector in the first semester of 2021 reached Rp 27.59 trillion, an increase of 59.66% compared to the first semester of 2020 which only reached Rp 17.28 trillion. This data was obtained from Minerba One Data Indonesia (MODI) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) quoted by CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (04/08/2021).State revenues in the first semester of 2021 in detail in January amounted to Rp. 4.72 trillion, then in February it fell to Rp. 3.57 trillion, then in March it rose to Rp. 4.66 trillion.
Furthermore, in April it fell again to Rp 4.17 trillion, in May it rose to Rp 4.74 trillion, and in June it jumped to Rp 5.73 trillion.
Director of Minerba Revenue of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Muhammad Wafid said the increase in state revenues in the first semester of 2021 was due to improving commodity prices in the mining sector. "This is due to improving commodity prices," he told CNBC Indonesia, Wednes-day (04/08/2021).
When asked about the projected state revenue from the mining sector until the end of the year, he could not say yet. However, he ensured that this year's state revenue from the mining sector would be achieved.

Daily News Update Page 4
"At least the 2021 target is projected to be achieved," he said when asked how much the projection was until the end of the year.
The target of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from the mineral and coal mining sector in 2021 is IDR 39.10 trillion, this means that the achievement in the first semester of 2021 has reached 70.6% of this year's target.
As is known, the mining sector is currently experiencing a breath of fresh air because commodity prices are experiencing a positive trend. For example, coal prices have shown an increasing trend since the beginning of the year, especially since April 2021. From a price of around US$ 50 per ton at the beginning of the year, in April it continued to soar above US$ 90 per ton. The Reference Coal Price (HBA) in August 2021 alone has now jumped to US$ 130.99 per ton from US$ 115.35 per ton in July 2021. This August 2021 HBA is the highest figure in more than a decade.
Not only coal which experienced price increases, other mining commodities also experienced the same thing, such as nickel and copper. This price increase in the mining sector is called a super cycle, where prices soar high and are expected to last for a long time.
The soaring mining prices include coal, gold, nickel and copper. Deputy for Investment and Mining at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) Septian Hario Seto said that the price increase had a positive impact on Indonesia.
He said that many potential investors expressed their interest in investing in the downstream mining sector in this country.
Batu bara misal-nya, harga batu bara sejak awal tahun memang menunjukkan tren peningkatan, terutama sejak April 2021.

Daily News Update Page 7
Indika Energy's Head of Corporate Communication Ricky Fernando said this was done after obtaining government approval regarding the revision of the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB).
"(The production target) is divided into 35.7 million tons by Kideco, and 1.6 million tons by MUTU (PT Multi Tambangjaya Utama)," Ricky said when contacted by Kontan.co.id, after the Indika Energy Media Gathering event, Wednesday ( 4/8).
During January-June 2021, INDY has recorded consolidated production of around 19.8 million tons of coal or equivalent to 53.08% of the consolidated production target after the revised RKAB. In this realization, PT Kideco Jaya Agung (Kideco) contributed 18.2 million tons of coal production, an increase of 7.7% compared to Kideco's production realization in the same period last year which amounted to 16.9 million tons. Meanwhile, MUTU recorded production of the remaining 0.9 million tons of coal during January-June 2021, growing 28.57% compared to the realization of MUTU's production in the same period last year which was 0.7 million tons.
In terms of sales, Kideco recorded an 8.5% increase in coal sales volume year-on-year (yoy) from 16.6 million tons to 18.1 million tons in the first semester of 2021.
Of this volume, Kideco marketed 6.4 million tons or 35% of them for the domestic market, which was higher than the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) of coal which was 25%. Meanwhile, the volume of coal sales for the export market reached 11.7 million tons with destination countries of China, India and other Southeast Asian countries.

In addition to recording an increase in sales volume, Kideo also recorded an increase in the average selling price of coal by 21.9% yoy from US$ 39.8 to US$ 48.6 per ton in the first semester of 2021. Similar to Kideco, MUTU also recorded an increase in coal sales volume from 0.6 million tons to 0.9 million tons in 2008 as well as an increase in the average selling price of coal by 30.4 percent from US$ 63.1 to US$ 82, 3 per tonne in the first half of the year.
On a consolidated basis, Kideco contri-buted 62.5% of INDY's total revenue during the first half. Meanwhile, MUTU contributed 5.1% of total consolidated revenue. The rest of INDY's other income comes from Petrosea Mining, Petrosea E&C, Tripatra, Interport, PT Mitrabahtera Segara Sejati Tbk (MBSS), and others. Meanwhile, the total consolidated revenue recorded by INDY during the first half of this year reached US$ 1.28 billion, an increase of 14.07 percent compared to the realization of revenue in the first half of last year which was US$ 1.12 billion. From the revenue results, INDY pocketed profit for the current period attributable to owners of the parent entity or net profit of US$ 12 million in the first semester of 2021, reversing from INDY's bottom line position in the first semester of 2020 which recorded a net loss of US$ 21.91 million.
"Revenue in the first semester of 2021 will increase sharply due to the increase in coal prices," said Director of INDY, Retina Rosabai at the Indika Energy Media Gathering event, Wednesday (4/8).
Selain mencatatkan kenaikan volume penjualan, Kideo juga mencatat kenaikan harga jual rata-rata batubara sebesar 21,9% yoy dari US$ 39,8 menjadi US$ 48,6 per ton pada semester I 2021.
I 2020 ter-catat rugi bersih US$ 21,91 juta.

Coal Producers Optimistic Price
and Demand Still Bright
Author: Denis Riantiza Meilanova
T
HE INDONESIAN Coal Mining Association (APBI) is optimistic that the price and demand for coal in the next 2 decades is still quite prospective, even in the midst of pressure related to the issue of energy transition that is getting stronger globally.APBI Executive Director Hendra Sinadia said the increase in the reference coal price (HBA) to the level of US$130.99 per ton in August 2021 proves that coal prices are still strengthening and demand for coal is still high.
"Coal is still in high demand in Asia Pacific. In the short term, the impact has yet to be seen because countries in Asia Pacific are still building steam power plants," Hendra said to Bisnis, Wednesday (4/8/2021). According to him, demand from China as the country's largest export destination for Indonesian coal is also still prospective. Until now, said Hendra, China is still building tens of gigawatts of new PLTU which is estimated to still operate for the next 25 years.
Although China is committed to reducing the use of coal in the long term, APBI is optimistic that Indonesian coal will still be in demand by China for at least the next two decades.
"This is because the quality of our coal is suitable for them and the average price of our coal is cheaper than their domestic price. Even though China has the potential to reduce long-term coal, they still need coal from Indonesia. finished," he said.
Produsen Batubara Optimistis
Harga dan Permintaan Masih Cerah
Author: Denis Riantiza Meilanova

Memang turun, tapi bukan berarti habis," katanya.
Daily News Update Page 10
On the other hand, Hendra also did not deny that the push for the phase out of PLTU and reduced global funding for the coal industry would be a challenge in the future. It is feared that the lack of capital for the coal industry will affect coal demand in the future.
However, as the cheapest coal energy source in the world, he is optimistic that coal will still have a market in the next few years.
"Coal capital is decreasing day by day. That is indeed a challenge and we have seen it, it's not something new 5-10 years ago it has decreased. But looking at the current outlook for PLTUs in several countries, both those that are, have been, and will be built, we see that in the next 1-2 decades, it feels like demand is still quite strong," said Hendra. Editor : Amanda Kusumawardhani
"Permodalan batu bara makin hari makin berkurang.

Daily News Update Page 11
He said the decline in coal production in the first semester was due to the rain and flooding that occurred in the company's mining area in Kalimantan in the first quarter of 2021.
However, it will boost production in the second semester of this. "This is because the first quarter of 2021 yesterday we were affected by rain and flooding. So, we will pursue production in H2 2021," he said.
He further said that this year's coal production is targeted to increase by 20-25 percent compared to last year.
He himself once said that Arutmin's coal production target this year is between 25-27 million tons.
"We plan to increase our production in 2021 by 20-25%," he said.
Although coal production in the first semester of 2021 declined, according to him, from a financial performance perspective, it was much better due to the increase in coal prices.
"Financial performance this year is much better due to the increase in the selling value of coal, which is much better than last year," he said.
As is known, the Ministry of ESDM has officially raised the coal production target in 2021 by 75 million tons to 625 million tons from the initial target of 550 million tons.
The increase in the production target was due to the soaring price of coal.
The price of coal since the beginning of the year has indeed shown an increasing trend, especially since April 2021. From a price of around US$ 50 per ton at the beginning of the year, in April it continued to soar above US$ 90 per ton.
Harga batu bara sejak awal tahun memang menunjukkan tren peningkatan, terutama sejak April 2021. Dari harga sekitar US$ 50 per ton di awal tahun, pada April terus melonjak di atas US$ 90 per ton.

She further said, the next pillar that is no less important is the pillar of health. UNTR undergoes this CSR program, through posyandu and posbindu development programs around UT's operational areas throughout Indonesia.
Sara explained, in line with the pandemic conditions in the country, UNTR's CSR program in the health pillar is currently focused on the Covid alert community program. This program aims to build public health awareness and resilience during the pandemic.
"Guidance consists of webinars for posyandu cadres, PPE assistance, drugs and vitamins, as well as providing locations for Covid-19 vaccinations," said Sara.
The next pillar is the environmental pillar, which is realized through cooperation in the management of biodiversity in the Bogor Conservation Forest and the Muara Tawar Mangrove Forest and PIK. This includes the Spirit to Reduce Plastic program.
Then finally there is the pillar of community empowerment. Sara did not provide more details regarding this fourth pillar. What is clear, he said, is that this CSR program is carried out through fostering MSMEs around UT's operational areas throughout Indonesia.
Regarding the amount of CSR funds, Sara said that her party could only submit it through the 2021 annual report. This is because the amount of budgeted funds will vary each year, depending on the focus of the activities being carried out.
"There are (funds) that are permanent in nature, referring to programs that run routinely and some are variable, for example in years where there are many disasters, CSR funds are increased for emergency response support or disaster management," explained Sara.

Meanwhile, last year UNTR posted a net profit of Rp 6 trillion. This achievement decreased by 46.9% on an annual basis or yoy from the net profit in 2019 which reached Rp 11.31 trillion.
Meanwhile, in terms of the top line, it was recorded at Rp 60.34 trillion or a decrease of 28.5% from the realization of 2019 revenue of Rp 84.43 trillion.
However, UNTR views the business prospects this year positively. This was supported by better commodity prices compared to last year.
"This is reflected in the sales performance of Komatsu heavy equipment distributed by UT, for the first semester of 2021 it reached 1,361 units, and is in line with the projection by the end of the year around 2,500-2,600 units," concluded Sara.
Until June 2021, UNTR managed to carve a satisfactory performance. Citing the company's financial statements, UNTR recorded a consolidated net income of Rp 37.3 trillion or grew 12% from the realization of revenue in the same period in 2020 of Rp 33.19 trillion.

Daily News Update Page 15
The ESDM has so far claimed to have received reports about the origin of goods that are not clear.
Therefore, the ESDM will try to make changes to the certificate of origin of goods which will no longer be able to be made unilaterally by business entities, but must be made by surveyors who are licensed and whose activities are supervised by the government.
Subsequently, several changes will be made in the new Draft Kepdirjen, some of which include increasing the role of surveyors to additional obligations that must be fulfilled by business actors. PT Superintending Company of Indonesia or Sucofindo believes that the steps taken by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will have a positive impact on the performance of surveyor companies, particularly in inspection and testing services.
ESDM explained that the average amount of revenue contribution provided by the mining sector could reach Rp 350 billion per year. The revenue includes inspection and testing services for mining commodities.
Sucofindo previously set a revenue target from the company's mineral and coal sector to reach Rp600 billion this year. If you refer to the company's financial statements, the revenue until the first half of 2021 has reached Rp1.14 trillion. This amount is only 41 percent of the company's targeted revenue of Rp. 2.8 trillion.
A number of mining business players also admitted that they would warmly welcome the plan to be carried out by the Ministry of ESDM. His party will also provide full support for all efforts made by the government to improve governance in the mineral and coal sector.

HE TREND in tin prices is expected to continue to strengthen as demand for tin increases amid the issue of tight supply due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Research & Development Team for Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (ICDX) assessed that tin prices will continue to soar. This is because China's automotive market is experiencing steady growth in both production and sales.
China's New Energy Vehicle Industry Development said sales are expected to reach a record high of 30 million units by 2025. Meanwhile, the China Automobile Manufacturers Association (CAAM), reported that car production in China in the first half of 2021 rose 24.2 percent to 12.6 million units. on an annual basis. Meanwhile, sales reached 12.9 million units, up 25.6 percent on an annual basis. ICDX reports that traded tin prices have been observed to show a bullish trend of around US$21,000 which continues to climb up to penetrate levels above $35,000 at the close of semester I/2021.
In terms of volume, tin exports through ICDX also showed positive performance. The total export volume in semester I/2021 reached 12,866.93 metric tons, an increase of 202 percent compared to semester II/2020.
The research team stated that the increase in tin demand amid the issue of tight supply due to the Covid-19 pandemic was the main catalyst that moved tin prices.

So far, Indonesia, which is the world's second largest tin producer, has not experienced any problems due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, PT Timah Tbk as the largest tin producer in Indonesia, stated that it will maintain a stable production this year in the range of 31,000 tons to 34,000 tons. Meanwhile, Chinese electric vehicle company Xpeng Motors on July 31 officially announced the launch of its manufacturing plant in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, with a projected production capacity of 100,000 vehicles per year.
The news also became a positive catalyst for tin prices, because tin commodities are widely used in the soldering and battery industries. Editor : Hafiyyan
Editor : Hafiyyan

Two Days 4% Loss, Today's Coal
Price Increases 1.5%
Hidayat Setiaji, CNBC Indonesia

OAL prices managed to rise after correction for two consecutive days. Although the increase was quite sharp, it could not cover the two-day decline.Yesterday, the price of coal on the ICE Newcastle (Australia) market was recorded at US$ 148.6/ton. Up 1.5% from the previous day.
However, this increase was still not enough to heal the wound. Because in the previous two days, the price of the black stone fell by 4.15%.
Toby Hassall, Analyst at Refinitiv, believes that the fundamentals of coal are still conducive to sustaining price increases. Supply is still not much while demand is rising rapidly.
"Demand for coal is recovering in a v-shaped pattern as the world's activities increase. This has made coal trade increase and has covered most of the corrections caused by the corona virus pandemic (Coronavirus Disease-2019/Covid-19)," said Hassall in his research.
The coronavirus pandemic, continued Hassall, has forced coal producers to adjust by reducing production to respond to falling demand. Until now, production has not been able to return to normal like the pre-pandemic period.
This situation is expected to persist in the near future. But in the longer term, the possibility of increasing supply will limit price increases.
Dua Hari Rontok 4%, Harga
Batu Bara Hari Ini Nanjak 1,5%

ARGA batu bara berhasil naik setelah koreksi selama dua hari beruntun.
Pasokan masih belum banyak sementara permintaan naik pesat.

"High demand makes the margins obtained by producers increase rapidly. This will make producers excited and increase production. In time, additional production will suppress price increases," said Hassall.
CNBC INDONESIA RESEARCH TEAM (aji/aji)
TIM RISET CNBC INDONESIA (aji/aji)
Copper price down on softer growth in US and China
MINING.COM Staff Writer
C
OPPER prices dropped on Wednesday after reports showing softer manufacturing growth in the US and China.“Industrial metals are increasingly feeling the weight of a synchronized slowing in US and Chinese growth,” TD Securities analysts led by Bart Melek said in a note.
Copper for delivery in September fell 1.4% from Monday’s settlement price, touching $4.334 per pound ($9,534 per tonne) on the Comex market in New York.
China’s factory activity expanded in July at the slowest pace in 17 months, with the official Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) easing to 50.4 from 50.9 in June, remaining above the 50-point level that separates growth from contraction.
China’s imports of unwrought copper have also been trending lower since the sharp recovery from the coronavirus pandemic amid stimulus spending in the middle of last year.
Daily News Update Page 20
Surging Chinese scrap copper imports that have doubled in the first half of 2021 are also displacing to some extent refined cathode, concentrate, anode, and blister imports, with analysis by Roskill predicting the situation to worsen and potentially cripple the copper price recovery.
Chinese policymakers have been trying to tame surging commodity prices -- from coal to copper -- that have squeezed manufacturers’ margins in the world’s second-biggest economy. On Wednesday, China’s Dalian Commodity Exchange said it was investigating 48 cases of “abnormal trading behavior.” (With files from Bloomberg and Reuters)

HILE's Codelco, the world's largest copper miner, increased its production by 14.9% year-on-year to 151 600 t in June, and by 6.8% so far this year, the Chilean state copper commission Cochilco said on Tuesday.BHP's Escondida, the world's largest copper mine, saw production fall 21.6% year-on-year to 82 900 t in the same month, for an accumulated drop of 14.9% in the first half of this year. Escondida has curtailed some operations since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and imposition of restrictions, including reducing cathode production, resulting in 11 straight months of declining production.
Meanwhile at the Collahuasi copper mine - a joint venture by Glencore and Anglo American - production fell 6.7% year-on-year to 53 900 t in June, giving an accumulated increase of 2.7% in the first six months of the year.
The country’s total production was up 2.3% year-on-year in June to 477 300 t, Cochilco said.
Finance firms working to close coal plants in Asia
By: Shilpa Sharma

OME of the world’s major financial companies and institutions are working on a plan to speed-up the closure of coal-fired power plants in Asia to reduce carbon emissions. The initiative driven by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and developed by the British insurer Prudential, is also being followed by key lenders Citi and HSBC, the BBC reported. The ADB hopes the closure plan will be ready for the COP26 climate conference, which is being held in Scotland in November.
Daily News Update Page 21
Don Kanak, the chairman of Prudential Insurance Growth Markets, told the BBC: “The world cannot possibly hit the Paris climate targets unless we accelerate the retirement and replacement of existing coal fired electricity, opening up much larger room in the near term for renewables and storage.”
“This is especially true in Asia where existing coal fleets are big and young and will otherwise operate for decades,” he added.
Under the proposal, public-private partnerships will buy coal-fired plants and shut them far sooner than their usual operating lifespan.
Ahmed M Saeed, ADB’s vice president for East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific said: “By purchasing a coal-fired power plant with, say, 50 years of operational life ahead of it and shutting it down within 15 years we can cut up to 35 years of carbon emission.”
The ADB is aiming to launch a pilot programme in a developing South East Asian nation – potentially Indonesia, the Philippines or Vietnam – in time for the COP26 event in November. Key aspects of the initiative that are yet to be finalised include how coal plant owners can be convinced to sell them, what to do with the plants after they are closed, and what role if any carbon credits could play.
The plan has come in the wake of commercial, development banks and other major investors becoming wary of investing in new fossil fuel power plants as they strive to meet climate targets.
Coal-fired electricity generation accounts for about a fifth of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, making it the biggest polluter.
As per the International Energy Agency forecast, global demand for coal will grow by 4.5 per cent this year, with Asia making up 80 per cent of that rise.
Meanwhile, the International Panel on Climate Change has called for global coal-fired electricity generation to fall from 38 per cent to 9 per cent by 2030.
Whitehaven moves Winchester South towards approval

HITEHAVEN Coal’s $1 billion Winchester South metallurgical coal project in Queensland remains on track after the state government released a draft environmental impact statement (EIS).Submissions are being encouraged on the draft EIS for the mine which is located 30 kilometres southeast of Moranbah.
The mine has the potential to create 1000 new jobs in Central Queensland.
Winchester South is expected to produce up to 11 million tonnes per annum of high-quality metallurgical coal for steel manufacturing over a 30-year mine life.
Daily News Update Page 22
It comes just days after Stanmore Resources announced their $82 million extension to their Isaac Plains Mining Complex near Moranbah, supporting up to 550 jobs.
The open cut Winchester South coal mine is forecast to create 500 construction jobs and 500 operational jobs once approved.
Whitehaven Coal managing director and chief executive officer Paul Flynn welcomed the release of the EIS.
“Since acquiring Winchester South in 2018, our team has developed a detailed project design that capitalises on the site’s position in a well-established coal region,” Flynn said.
“As our first development in Queensland, we’ve built productive relationships with the community, local council, the Barada Barna Aboriginal Corporation, government, and other stakeholders, all of whom have been critical to developing the proposal.
“This project will support ongoing economic development in regional Queensland and importantly in the customer countries where the product will be used.
“We encourage any interested parties to have a say as part of this public notification process.” Resources Minister Scott Stewart said the mine will create more than $500 million in royalties which will be spent on Queensland schools, hospitals, and roads, as the government continues to implement its COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan.
“This project will be a massive jobs and business boost for Central Queensland and the Isaac region particularly, with those benefits extending east to Mackay,” Stewart said.
“Whitehaven Coal has a strong record of local employment and is committed to maintaining local employment here in Queensland.
“Ongoing investment in our resources sector continues to underpin Queensland’s economic recovery plan and prove that Queensland is the place to be when it comes to resources investment.”
Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert welcomed the next stage of the approvals process. “This project has the potential to make a major contribution to not only Mackay but also the region and the state,” she said.
“The resources industry is a key part of Mackay and people and businesses throughout the city benefit from a strong mining sector.”
“It’s important people can have their say on this job creating project for the region.”
Submissions are open until September 15 and the finalised EIS will then be provided to the Queensland and Australian Governments for examination.

Argus Media: Australia’s Newcastle coal export back on track for
August
Published by Jessica Casey, Editorial Assistant
A
USTRALIA's largest coal export facility at Newcastle is positioned for a strong August, with the Newcastle Coal Infrastructure (NCIG) terminal returning to normal operations and the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals ramping up to full capacity, as reported by Argus Media. The NCIG shiploader, which has been out of operation since November, has resumed operations and potentially adding 1.25 million tpm in export capacity at the port. The PWCS terminals ramped up exports to 10.57 million t in July from 9.26 million t in June and from 6.86 million t in July 2020. This is the most that PWCS has shipped since a record 10.96 million t in December and follows 2 months of maintenance in May – June.
The ramp up at PWCS, the return of the NCIG shiploader, and larger than average port stockpiles should see strong Newcastle exports in August, despite a major rail maintenance planned for 9 – 12 August.
Ship queues outside of Newcastle remain longer than average, at 36 3 August 2021 down from a near 10-year high of 40 on 6 July 2021. The average turnaround time at the port increased to 13.51 days in July from 10.86 days in June. This compares to an average of 5.35 days for January – June and of 3.81 days in January – June 2020.
Daily News Update Page 24
NCIG has shipped around 3.4 million tpm since its shiploader was damaged in November, which is around 1.25 million tpm less than its average in the 8 months prior to the incident. NCIG does not publish its monthly export data, but it can be deduced from the Newcastle port data, which comes out later in the month.
Operations at Newcastle are hampered again by strong winds, which was also a major factor for several days in July.
Stocks at the PWCS terminal rose to 2.23 million t at the end of July from 1.88 million t at the end of June, and should help the port to manage a major rail shut down on the line connecting it to mines in the Hunter Valley on 9 – 12 August. There was a minor rail maintenance on the railway on 24 – 25 July.
Argus last assessed high-grade Australian thermal coal at US$151.90/t fob Newcastle for NAR 6000 kcal/kg on 30 July 2021, up from US$120.58/t on 4 June 2021 and a low of US$46.18/t on 4 September 2020. It assessed lower-grade coal at US$92.93/t fob Newcastle for NAR 5500 kcal/kg on 31 July 2021, up from US$70.10/t on 4 June 2021 and US$35.04/t on 4 September 2020.
The heat-adjusted premium on a NAR 6000 basis for higher-grade thermal coal was at a record US$50.52/t on 31 July, up from US$44.11/t on 4 June and US$8.65/t at the end of August 2020.
Shipments of semi-soft coking coal accounted for around 10% of Newcastle's shipments. Argus last assessed the semi-soft mid-volatile coking coal price at US$126.90/t fob Australia on 3 August 2021, up from US$92.90/t on 31 May 2021 and US$71.20/t on 31 December 2020.
