Tabel data pada halaman sebelumnya, menjelaskan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan dari jenis Pendidikan dan Pelatihan (Diklat) yang diselenggarakan oleh Pelindo III dari tahun 2011 hingga tahun 2012. Namun, sebagai Terminal Operator, Pelindo III tetap lebih fokus pada peningkatan kinerja dan produktivitas SDM yang berada di bagian operasional sehingga di tahun 2011 lebih didominasi pelatihan-pelatihan/
workshop/seminar di bidang operasional, baik di dalam maupun luar negeri selain pelatihan- pelatihan di bidang non operasional yang juga terus dikembangkan, seperti SDM, Keuangan, dan sebagainya.
Seperti halnya tahun 2011, di tahun 2012 Pelindo III masih tetap fokus pada perannya sebagai pelaku penyedia jasa kepelabuhanan yang tidak hanya mampu menunjukkan produktivitas yang optimal, namun juga mampu memberikan pelayanan yang prima (excellent service) kepada pengguna jasa sehingga terdapat beberapa diklat (in-house maupun ex-house) yang diselenggarakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pegawai dalam melayani pengguna jasa, seperti: pelatihan 3S (Senyum, Salam, Sapa), pelatihan increasing customer satisfaction, pelatihan Customer Relationship Officer (CRO), dan sebagainya.
Program lain yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi (knowledge & skill) pegawai selain pendidikan dan pelatihan adalah Program S2 Luar Negeri yang kali pertama dilakukan Pelindo III di tahun 2012 yang telah mengirimkan pegawai- pegawai potensial sebanyak 10 orang untuk menempuh pendidikan Pasca Sarjana (S-2) bidang kepelabuhanan di luar negeri, seperti ITMMA- Belgium, dan sebagainya.
Pelatihan karyawan yang diselenggarakan oleh Pelindo III dalam setiap tahunnya hampir merata diikuti oleh pegawai. Hal tersebut dapat terlihat dari data sebagai berikut :
Table in the previous page describes there is no significant difference on Education and Training conducted by Pelindo III from 2011 to 2012. However, as a Terminal Operator, Pelindo III keeps focusing on the performance development and human resources productivity in operational division so that in 2011 is more dominated by training/workshop/seminar in operational fields, whether inside or outside the country. Meanwhile, other non-operational training are also developed, like Human Resources, Finance, and etcetera.
In 2012 Pelindo III still focuses on the role of port services provider which not only shows the maximum productivity, but also capable to provide excellent services to the customers, and therefore, there are several training whether in-house or out-house conducted to improve the employees capability in serving the customers, such as training of 3S (Senyum, Salam, Sapa/Smile, Say Hello, Greetings), training on Increasing Customers’ Satisfaction, training on Customer Relationshio Officer (CRO) and
etcetera.
Other program is conducted to improve the employees knowledge and skills apart from the education and training is Graduate degree programs abroad which has been firstly conducted by Pelindo III in 2012 by sending 10 persons of potential employees to be participated in the Graduate Degree majoring ports,such as ITMMA-Belgium, et cetera.

Above table describes that the expenses realisation in 2012 increased for 6.74% or Rp. 1,503,977,000.00 compared with previous year. Increasing expenses is caused by increasing need of knowledge and skills improvement from year to year. to improve the employees knowledge and skills reached through via the Education and Training Program.
The competency improvement for the employees with specific operational purposes is needed, as they are not only expected to be able to operate the heavy equipment, but also to improve the knowledge and productivity, on how to perform optimal in order to contribute on incerase competitivenss or company excellence. Futhermore, increased expense in Planning Human Resources Development Sub- Division in 2012 is caused by the Graduate degree program, where the company have sent 10 (ten) employees to the universities abroad.
The Graduates are expected to have ports knowledge and able to improve competitiveness of Pelindo III in the future.

Tabel data di atas menjelaskan bahwa jumlah realisasi biaya tahun 2012 meningkat sebesar 6,74% atau sebesar Rp. 1.503.977.000,- dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Peningkatan realisasi biaya ini disebabkan karena adanya kebutuhan peningkatan kompetensi (knowledge
& skill) pegawai yang dari tahun ke tahun semakin meningkat.
Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kompetensi (knowledge & skill) pegawai yaitu melalui Program Pendidikan dan Pelatihan (Diklat). Peningkatan kebutuhan kompetensi pegawai sesuai dengan bidangnya masing-masing, sangat diperlukan khususnya bagi pegawai yang berada di bagian Operasional dimana mereka tidak hanya dituntut untuk memiliki skill (keahlian) dalam mengoperasikan alat berat saja melainkan dituntut untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan (knowledge) agar mampu menunjukkan produktivitas yang optimal sehingga dapat berdampak pada peningkatan daya saing atau keunggulan perusahaan. Selain itu, peningkatan beban biaya pada Subdit Perencanaan dan Pengembangan SDM pada tahun 2012 disebabkan karena Pelindo III memiliki program S2 Luar Negeri dan telah mengirimkan 10 (sepuluh) orang pegawainya ke berbagai Universitas di Luar Negeri.
Para lulusan S2 Luar Negeri ini diharapkan mampu memiliki pengetahuan khususnya di bidang kepelabuhanan sehingga mampu meningkatkan daya saing Pelindo III di masa mendatang.
