INCREASING STUDENTS' READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY USING THE DISCUSSION METHOD IN THE ELEVENTH GRADE OF. In order to increase the students' reading comprehension ability, the author therefore uses the Talking Stick method in the learning process.
INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Talking stick is one of the methods in the learning process that can be applied by the teacher. It means that the reading comprehension of the students in tenth graders of SMK Roudhotul Falah Sukadana East Lampung is low because.

In this research, the writer would like to increase students' reading comprehension ability using Talking Stick method. Therefore, the writer would like to conduct the research titled "Increasing students' reading comprehension ability using the talking stick method in the eleventh grade of SMK Roudhotul Falah Sukadana East Lampung.
Problem Formulation
Based on the above problem formulation, the writer tries to use Talking Stick in the learning process. The writer hopes that this method can increase the reading comprehension of students in the eleventh graders of SMK Roudhotul Falah Sukadana east lampung.

Then readers confirm their prediction and guess by reading the text to check the topic of the text.8 That is, in the top-down model, the reader brings his prior knowledge and experience to predict the content of the text. 10 must predict the content of the text, then check his prediction by interpreting the sentences of the text. That is, extensive reading is direct reading of a text in the target language with pleasure in order to get general information about a long text.
In this reading, the readers are required to read the text without a voice.16 This means that silent reading is reading without any voices in order to obtain a lot of both specific and general information from the text. It can be understood, reading comprehension is the understanding about new thing of the text that involves the reader's knowledge. It can be explained that reading comprehension ability is the understanding of written text through interaction between varietal structure of the text and the reader's prior knowledge to obtain information.
In other words, skimming is reading the text quickly to get the main point or knowledge of the text. It can be concluded that the reader must relate his previous experiences to the topic and then make predictions about what will happen next in the text before reading. g.

- Benefit of Talking Stick method
A talking stick is passed around from member to member so that only the person holding the stick can speak.34 Alarid and Markel say that the talking stick method is passed from speaker to speaker as their voting statements.35 This illustrates that the talking stick is a method of sharing opinions with other people. Also, the Talking Stick was a method used by Native Americans to let everyone have their say during a council meeting, a kind of tribal meeting.36 This means that the talking stick has been used for centuries by many Native American tribes as a means of fairness and justice. impartial hearing, it was commonly used in council circles to determine who had spoken. In other words, Huda said that Talking Stick is a method for the group to learn with teams in the stick.37 It illustrates that talking stick uses a stick in the learning process in the class, and the learning is group.
Suyatno maintains the teaching of Talking Stick is the general of information, make a group, call the leader, write and answer the question, make a result and evaluation.39 This means that talking stick uses group in the learning process and the role of the leader is very important to become good. 36 Kimberly Fujioka, "The Talking Stick: An American Indian Tradition in the ESL Classroom" The Internet TESL Journal, Vol. Talking stick can be used at any meeting or council where different opinions need to be expressed.
Based on the above definitions, it can be concluded that Talking Stick is the model of group learning, consisting of small groups of 5 or 6 heterogeneous students based on intelligence, friendship or disposition and effective to be applied in subjects and classes different. Begin the session by placing the talking stick on the floor with everyone sitting in chairs in a circle around it.

Action Plan
- Cycle 1 a. Planning
- Cycle 2 a) Planning
Wina Sanjaya argues that action research in the classroom is a research that investigates the problems of learning in the classroom to solve the problems itself using the real situation and analyzes the way of dealing with oneself.3 It can be explained that action research in the classroom uses the real situation to solve a problem in the learning process. In other words, McNiff said that action research is a name given to a particular way of researching our learning.4 This means that in research, the writer can use a specific method in the learning process. Additionally, McNiff suggests that action research is research by oneself, undertaken in association with others who act as research participants and critical learning partners.5 This means that the writer conducts the research he or she needs for a friend.
In this research, the author needs the collaborator to help him in this action research, she is Istian Safitri, S.Pd. In the classroom action research, the author would like to keep the research in two cycles. In this action, the writer will do pre-test, treatment and post-test to the students.
28 6) The teacher takes a stick and gives it to the student, the student who . a stick must answer the teacher's question, and so on. 7) The teacher guides and helps the students in learning. process. The researcher and employee reflect all the actions performed and identify the result of observation in the learning process by comparing the score of the pre-test and the post-test.
Data Collecting Method
In this research, the writer will give students two tests, the pre-test and the post-test. Tests will be given to recognize students' achievements before and after the learning process. Before introducing the treatments, a preliminary test will be done to know how far the students' reading comprehension is.
The type of pre-test is objective test, the author uses objective test in the form of multiple choice by using this test on descriptive text. The post-test will be conducted to know the progress of students' reading comprehension using the Talking Stick method after the treatments. 31 asked to answer the questions about descriptive text, but the topic given in the post-test is different from the pre-test.
In this study, the writer observes the behavior of the students and the activities of the students during the learning process to know how the learning process is progressing. The writer creates the observation sheet with a list of the students' activities during the observation.

Result of the Research
- The History of SMK Roudhotul Falah Sukadana
- Description of Research
Furthermore, the researcher made the test to the students which would be used in pre-test and post-test. So this was the reason why the author used Talking Stick method to increase the students' reading comprehension. At the beginning of the teaching learning process, the author asked the students about 'what is procedural text?'.
At the end of the meeting, the writer gave feedback to the students about the learning process. The writer motivated the students and introduced them to the activities at the next meeting. Based on the table above, it can be seen that the students' average score (average) in posttest II was 72.89.
In the teaching process, four indicators were also used to recognize the students' activities as in the learning process before. 70% of the students passed the exam which means that the students' reading comprehension ability had increased.
Interpretation
- The Result of Students’ Score in Cycle I Table 8 Table 8
- The Result of Students’ Score in Cycle II Table 9 Table 9
- The Result of Students’ Learning Activities in Cycle I and Cycle II
Based on the result above, the writer indicated that the learning process in cycle II was successful because the fourth student's activity got a percentage ≥60%. Based on the result of the research in Cycle II, it could be concluded that Cycle II was successful. From the result above, the author concluded that this research was successful and would not be continued in the next cycle.
It aims to know the ability of the students' reading comprehension before and after the treatment. From the result of pre-test and post-test I, we knew that there was an improvement from the students' result score. Although there was an increase in student performance, cycle I was not yet successful, as only 4 students (21.05%) students passed post-test I.
Based on the above result, it can be concluded that the Talking Stick method could increase the students' reading ability because there was an improvement from the average of 48.42 before the test and 72.89 in the second test.

- The Comparison of Pre-test and Post-test
- Conclusions
- Suggestion
The students who asked or answered questions from the teacher increased from meeting to meeting. Based on the results of pre-test, post-test I and post-test II, it was known that there was a positive significant increase in the students' score. Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that the use of Talking Stick method can increase the students' reading comprehension ability.
Based on the above graph, it can be deduced that the Talking Stick method can increase students' reading comprehension. It is supported by increasing the students' score from pre-test to post-test I and from post-test I to post-test II. More and more students obtained the score from the pretest to the posttest I and from the posttest I to the posttest II.
It can be concluded that this research was successful to increase students' reading comprehension ability because the result of the students' results had reached the success indicator. There has been an increase in students' reading ability using the Talking Stick method in the eleventh grade of SMK Roudhotul Falah Sukadana.
