OKLAHOMA STATE EXPORTS
# In 1999, Oklahoma’s goods exports were $2.6 billion, down 9.1 percent ($265 million) from 1992. During 1999, Oklahoma was the 35th largest state exporter of goods.
# In 1999, Oklahoma’s jobs supported by goods exports were an estimated 33 percent (13,978 jobs) lower than 1992. U.S. jobs supported by goods exports pay 13 to 16 percent higher than the national average wage.
# In 1991, the latest year available, Oklahoma’s exports accounted for 14.9 percent of its manufacturing output and represented 16.0 percent of its total manufacturing employment.
# Oklahoma’s exports of manufactured products were up by 13 percent between 1993 and 1999 (from $2.2 billion in 1993 to $2.5 billion in 1999).
# The five largest manufacturing sectors in terms of Oklahoma’s exports were: Industrial Machinery and Computers ($855 million of exports in 1999), Transportation Equipment ($355 million), Chemical Products ($256 million), Fabricated Metal Products ($230 million), and Electronic and Electric Equipment ($174 million), and. These five sectors accounted for nearly 71 percent of the state’s total exports in 1999.

# Oklahoma is the country’s 27th largest agricultural exporting state, shipping $440 million in agricultural exports abroad in FY 1999. Oklahoma’s largest agriculture export category, wheat, accounted for 64 percent of Oklahoma’s agricultural exports in FY 1999.
# Total exports from Oklahoma to NAFTA countries in 1999 were 46 percent higher than 1993 (pre-NAFTA), rising from $724 million in 1993 to $1.1 billion in 1999. During 1999, Canada was Oklahoma’s largest export market, while Mexico was Oklahoma’s second largest export market. Exports to Canada in 1999 were 34 percent ($186 million) higher than 1993, to $740 million in 1999. Exports to Mexico in 1999 were 85 percent ($144 million) higher than 1993, to $314 million in 1999.
# In 1999, total exports from Oklahoma to Japan were 37 percent ($45 million) lower than 1993, to $78 million in 1999. During 1999, Japan was Oklahoma’s sixth largest export market.
# In 1999, total exports from Oklahoma to the European Union were 2.6 percent ($12 million) lower than 1993, to
$466 million in 1999.
# In 1999, Oklahoma exported $335.9 million to South/Central America and the Caribbean (excluding Mexico),
$230.4 million to the Asian members of APEC, and $29.7 million to SubSaharan Africa.
