Abstract
The present research is aimed to examine the effect of stopping trainings on performance (speed, strength, anaerobic power and endurance) of wrestlers. In this study, 18 freestyle wrestlers in Malayer city with training record of +5 years and average age of 18± 1.65 and average weight of 65±3 were selected. Performance indices were measured and they were divided into two groups. The first group had one week of detraining and the second group stopped all the trainings for 2 weeks. In equal circumstances and similar environments, the performance tests were assessed; after one weeks for the first group and after two weeks for the second group.
In this research, detraining time was the independent variable and performance change of wrestlers was the dependent variable, and for measuring them 45-meter run, chest press, squat,Medicine ball Throw , vertical jump and 1600-meter run were used. For comparing the means, dependent and independent t-tests were used.
The results showed that one week of detraining led to increase in upper body records and lack of loss of anaerobic power and lower body strength, and low decrease in cardiovascular endurance; and two weeks of detraining led to considerable loss in endurance in other factors. According to the findings of this research it is recommended that we can stop some of the trainings of the athletes in the tapering period without fearing that dependent factors would be decreased, but stopping the trainings for more than this duration would lead to
