GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Lk. 6:20- 26) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: "Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. "Blessed are you that hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. "Blessed are you that weep now, for you shall laugh. "Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets. "But woe to you that are rich, for you have received your consolation. "Woe to you that are full now, for you shall hunger. "Woe to you that laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. "Woe to you, when all men speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.

REFLECTION:

God reveals to the humble of heart the true source of abundant life and happiness. Jesus promises his disciples that the joys of heaven will more than compensate for the troubles and hardships they can expect in this world. Thomas Aquinas said: "No person can live without joy. That is why someone deprived of spiritual joy goes after carnal pleasures." Do you know the joy and happiness of hungering and thirsting for God alone?

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, increase my hunger for you and show me the way that leads to everlasting happiness and peace. Amen.

Prayer of St. Gertrude

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

FROM THE OVCA – OFFICE OF THE INTEGRATED SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:

1. From the Office for Inclusive Education For PEACE Month Celebration

2019 Theme: “Climate Action for Peace”

Peace can only be achieved if concrete action is taken to combat climate change. Speaking to young Māoris and people of the Pacific islands in New Zealand in May, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said “nature does not negotiate” and emphasized four key measures that Governments should prioritize in order to reach carbon neutrality by 2050: tax pollution, not people; stop subsidizing fossil fuels; stop building new coal plants by 2020; focus on a green economy, not a grey economy. (To be continued)

Guide Questions:

• How is climate change affecting peace locally and globally? Cite examples

• As a Lasallian and agent of peace, how can we promote peace in our home, learning environment, and community? Give examples.

2. From the ISFSA

Let us pray for the repose of the soul of Mr. Christopher P. Yabut, husband of Ms. Nancy. We hope for courage that Ms. Nancy may be comforted by the outpouring love and support from her Lasallian family, relatives and friends.

3. From the IS Evacuation Head

ON EVACUATION DRILL: The earthquake drill today is cancelled due to bad weather. Please wait for further announcement regarding the new schedule.
