Abstract

Child literature is an essential and significant tool in the child socialization which is considered as one of the most important stages in human’s life and due to the shortage in child literature in terms of the Arab literature in general and Saudi literature in particular, The concept of this study has come into light titled (Story in the Saudi children magazines from1420Hto1426H an applied study on Basim and Al Shibil magazines) to present the magazine as an important source that fosters the Saudi child literature and affects it directly, and to show the importance of the tale as a significant type of the Saudi literary product due to its significant stand to the children in particular especially if such tales and stories are published in the magazines, and description of the level of the stories published in the Saudi child magazines. for achievement of the objectives of the study, it was necessary to make a survey to the Saudi magazines directed to the child and to present their significance, statement of the published tale production, classification of stories and tales, and then to present the same through an applied study for Al Shibil and Basim to reach a general conception for the published tale directed for the Saudi child for the period stated in the research. The nature of the theme required from the researcher to apply the descriptive mythology and content analysis methodology, this study contained preface and three chapters and conclusion. The preface highlights the definition of the child literature and significance, executive summary on the development of the child literature in Saudi Arabia. The first chapter addresses the magazine in the child literature through two themes : The first theme tackles definition of magazine and its importance while the second theme tackles the developing stream of the child magazines in Saudi Arabia as analytic survey tracking. As the second chapter addresses the impact of magazine in the Saudi child falling into three themes: Study of the types of the child magazines in the Saudi magazines and the technical settings upon which the story in the child magazines are based as well as the impact of the child magazines to the child in the literary, creative linguistic educational and emotional aspects. As for the third chapter, it is an analytic study for Al Shibil and Basim Magazines during the period from 1420 H to 1426 H, The study reached to certain conclusions namely: There are twelve magazines directed for child in Saudi Arabia and significance of these magazines in developing the child

morally, socially, culturally and linguistically in addition to the diversification of the published story in terms of form and content, and that these magazines were directed to the three stages of childhood without specifying the most suitable stories for each age stage.
