SUMMARY

In the world, family of the rabbit (Leporidae) includes 11 genera, 54 species, of which three species belong to two genera distributed in Vietnam (Lepus and Nesolagus). As for Striped Rabbit genera (Nesolagus), there are only two species: Sumatra Stripped Rabbit (A^. netscheri) distributed in Indonesia, Annamite Striped Rabbit (N. timminsi) distributed in Viet Nam and announced as a new species in Viet Nam (Averianov et al., 2000). The mophological features of Annamite Striped Rabbit and their distribution described before (Pham Trong Anh et al., 2007).

In this smdy, some information on genetic diversity as well as biological and ecological features and the habit of Armamite Striped Rabbit were described:

Two mtDNA sequences with 400bp of Cytochrome b gene were identified from two Annamite Striped Rabbit samples. Analysis of these sequenses with some homology sequences from other species belonging family Leporidae showed that genetic differentiation of Annamite Striped Rabbit is highest compared between the other species of Leporidae and indicated that Armamite Striped Rabbit has high conservation value.. Annamite Sfriped Rabbit often lives in evergreen moistiue forest at 500 high metiers above sea levels. The favourable area for activities is vegetation near water. Their habitat is mainly in woody cave. They are animal nightwalker and single life. Thefr enemies in the natural are small carnivores and snakes. 44 plant species belonguig to 6 families, 16 genera are identified as food of Annamite Striped Rabbit.
