THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE DECREE OF THE MINISTER OF INDUSTRY AND TRADE NO. 108/MPP/KEP/5/1996 ON STANDARDIZATION,
CERTIFICATION, ACCREDIATION OF AND SUPERVISION OVER THE QUALITY OF PRODUCTS WITHIN THE MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY AND TRADE

THE MINISTER OF INDUSTRY AND TRADE,
Considering :
a. that in the framework of harmonizing policies on the certification of products with international provisions, it is necessary to restipulate the authority to grant certificates of products;
b. that in the framework of the certification of producers, the Center for Standardization of the Ministry of Industry and Trade function as the Product Certification Institute, which is authorized to issue certificates of products for the use of marks of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI);
c. that in relation thereto, it is necessary to stipulate a decree of the Minister of Industry and Trade. In view of :
1. Presidential Decree No. 12/1997 on the national Standardization Agency;
2. Presidential Decree No. 61/1998 on the status, tasks, organizational structures and working arrangements of ministires as already amended several times and the latest by Presidential Decree No. 142/1998;
3. Presidential Decree No. 122/M/1998 on the establishment of the development reforms cabinet; 4. Decree of the Minister of Industry and Trade No. 108/MPP/Kep/5/1996 jo. No.
425/MPP/Kep/9/1998 on standardization, certification, accrediation of and supervision over the quality of products within the Ministry of Industry and Trade;
5. Decree of the Minister of Industry and Trade No. 444/MPP/Kep/9/1998 jo. No. 24/MPP/Kep/1/1999 on the organization and working arrangement of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
To stipulated :
THE DECREE OF THE MINISTER OF INDUSTRY AND TRADE CONCERNING THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE DECREE OF THE MINISTER OF INDUSTRY AND TRADE NO. 108/MPP/KEP/5/1996 ON STANDARDIZATION,
CERTIFICATION, ACCREDIATION OF AND SUPERVISION OVER THE
Article I
1. To amend and combine Article 12 and 13 of the Decree of the Minister of Industry and Trade No. 108/MPP/Kep/5/1996 to become Article 12 so as to read as follows :
(1) The Center for Standardization of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the case of certification of products for the use of marks of SNI shall function as the Products Certifiction Institute. (2) The authority to issue certificates of products for the use of marks of SNI shall be at disposal of
the Minister of Finance.
(3) The Minister shall delegate the authority as meant in paragraph (2) to the Head of the Center for Standardization
(4) Provisions on and procedures for the certification of products for the use of marks of SNI shall be further stipulated by the Secretary General."
2. Article 13 of the Decree of the Minister of Industry and Trade No. 108/MPP/Kep/ 5/1996 shall be declared null and void.
3. Other provisions contained in the Minister of Industry and Trade No. 108/MPP/Kep/5/1996 shall remain effective.
Article II
This decree shall come into force as from the date of stipulation.
