Background and Objective: Increasing student's knowledge and attitude about HIV, HBV and HCV appears to be important and essential to prevent such diseases. The aim of the present study was to evaluate educational intervention on knowledge and attitude of dental students of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences towards preventing of blood- borne diseases.

Materials and Methods: This study was cross-sectional and involved four stages. In the first stage, 60 students of Dental School of Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences were selected randomly. Data was collected by a questionnaire, and then students were divided into experimental and control groups. In the second stage, educational intervention was conducted on the experimental group. In the third and fourth stages, immediately and three months after the intervention the questionnaire was given to both groups. Data was analyzed using independent t-test, repeated measure and Pearson correlation coefficients, p< 0.05 was significant.

Results: The average age of students was 22.13±1.722 years and 66.66% of them were female and 33.33% were male.

This study showed that the students' knowledge and attitude score in both groups had no significant difference before the intervention (attitude: P=0.622, knowledge: P= 0.202) but had a significant difference immediately and three months after the intervention (P<0.0001). Knowledge and attitude score didn't correlate with age and gender (P=0.065).

Conclusion: Our study showed that training towards preventing blood-borne diseases, can enhance student's knowledge and attitude.
