"Thin Man" theme, they have not forgotten how to send their audiences into helple. s convul. ions of mirth, and their antic and exploit arc as provocative of hilarity as they have ever been. Myrna Loy is no longer the perfect wife in this picture-in- deed she is more than half prepared to divorce her husband and marry an- other, but she looks as charming-, and acts as delightfully as ever. All fans of thi. famou pair will welcome the opportunity of . eeing them again by visiting the M tro.

" Torrid Zone" at Plaza

"Torrid Zone" is continuing at the Plaza for a second week, for Johan- nesburg film-goers, following prece- dent in the matter, have also suc- cumbed to the charm of Ann Sheri- dan, the "Oomph Girl," who makes a welcome appearance in this picture.

The action is quick-moving, and has a its back-ground the semi-.tropics.

James Cagney and Pat O'Brien are cast for leading parts, and make the most of the opportunities offered them in this gay but dramatic ro- mance. The film is excellently pro- duced and reaches a high level of en- tertainment. A good supporting programme provides a p!easant pre lude to the main picture.

"Golden Boy" at Em pire

"Golden Boy," the spe:ctacular Broadway success by Clifford Odets, which has now been tran lated to the screen, and was one of the most dis- cussed film. in America, is continu- ing at the Empire for yet another week. The tilm tells of a sensitive young violinist who becomes a box- ing champion. A new young star, William Holden, i. cast in the title role, and gives an excellent portrayal of the conflicts suffered by this box- ing violinist, torn between the desire to d vote himself to music and to make money quickly. The film is outstanding both for the acting and production, and is one well worth seeing.
