Mapping QTLs related to the Gliadin and Glutenin contents in bread wheat grain using microsatellite marker
Abstract
Rheological properties of wheat flour as the well-known and the most widely used flour, depend on it’s gliadin and glutenin subunits of gluten network. In addition to the known loci controlling these
subunits so called Glu-A1, Glu-A3, Glu-B1, Glu-B3, Glu-D1, Glu-D3, Gli-A1, Gli-A2, Gli-B1, Gli-B2, Gli-D1, and Gli-D2, their quantitative and polygenic nature, made it possible to identify the quantitative trait loci (QTL) controlling the genetic variations associated with these subunits by QTL mapping technique. In the present study, based on a population of 118 recombinant inbred lines (F2:
8), one and eleven QTLs were detected for the glutenin content by the composite interval mapping(CIM) and the single marker analysis method respectively. Also two and twelve QTLs were identified for gliadin content by the same methods. The results of this study can be used in the marker- assisted selection programs if the subsequent tests confirm these QTLs.
